With a strong history of serving his community, including work with nonprofits, we believe Blomme would be an excellent addition to our judicial bench since he will look at plaintiffs and defendants in their totality, as opposed to the incumbent, Judge Paul C. Dedinsky.

Dedinsky was appointed by former Republican Gov. Walker during his lame-duck period after losing to Tony Evers. Unfortunately, like many of Walker’s judicial appointees, Dedinsky has had an undistinguished record on the bench. Judges have great power over the cases before them to do good or destroy people and businesses. We need the best judges possible to continue to move Milwaukee County forward and not a last-minute Walker appointee.

Blomme is currently the president and CEO of the Cream City Foundation, which is known for fighting for those who are vulnerable in the Milwaukee community. He also worked with the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW), now known as Vivent Health, and as an attorney in the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office. Blomme has experience representing low-income individuals charged with misdemeanor and felony crimes.

But please, don’t confuse compassion with being weak. Blomme can certainly be tough when the circumstances warrant it. He would represent a refreshing change to our justice system over the very conservative narrow values that Dedinsky brought to the system.

Brett was elected by an overwhelming margin to serve Milwaukee County as the Circuit Court Judge in Branch 5. He took the bench in August 2020. Brett is a community activist, experienced attorney, and devoted dad. He has spent his career fighting for the most marginalized in our community.



Prior to serving as Circuit Court Judge, Brett was the President & CEO of Cream City Foundation (CCF) in Milwaukee. He has over 15 years of experience in litigation, philanthropy, community organizing and nonprofit management. Before joining CCF, Brett served as the Director of Major Gifts for the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW), a Milwaukee based AIDS service organization.



Previously Brett served as an attorney with the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office, where he represented low-income individuals that were charged with felony and misdemeanor crimes. Brett is a proud former member of AFT Local 4822, the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Association.



Prior to joining the Public Defender’s Office, Brett worked as a Legislative Aide for State Representative Jon Richards in the State Capitol, serving constituents from the City of Milwaukee. He got his start in politics working for leaders like Congresswoman Gwen Moore and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.



Brett was born and raised on a farm and moved around the Midwest growing up. He attended Marquette University and went back to his home state to get his law degree from the University of Missouri.

Brett previously served as an elected Director for the Government Lawyer’s Division of the Wisconsin Bar Association. He currently serves as chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Milwaukee, having been appointed by Mayor Tom Barrett and unanimously confirmed by the Common Council.



Brett lives in the Lenox Heights neighborhood on Milwaukee’s west side. He is an active member of Milwaukee’s LGBTQ+ softball league, SSBL-Milwaukee. His husband Chris works for UW-Madison and they have 2 children. The family is active with Miltown LGBT Families in Milwaukee.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation had received a tip saying a user of the messaging app Kik who went by the name “dommasterbb” had uploaded images and videos of child pornography 27 separate times in October and November 2020. The images depicted graphic videos and images of boys as young as toddlers.

The complaint said the email used for the account was linked to Blomme, and a DCI agent traced IP addresses used to upload the pornography to a Milwaukee County government building and Blomme’s home in Dane County. IP addresses in Milwaukee County were linked to Blomme’s friend who, according to the complaint, showed investigators text messages showing Blomme was staying at that address at the time the pornography was uploaded.
