The felons from Jan 6 should never legally carry a gun again.

So if a person wrecks his car recklessly, ending in injures and damages, should his right to drive and own a car be removed? I mean after all Americans' wittle fweelings are much more important than individual rights.

no, they should not be removed.............he might have to sell all his cars to pay for damages later, but thats on him/her

The difference being?

Here's other point to ponder. Many ex-felons, some of them celebrities, have never used a gun in a commission of a felony or even owned one. And they are still denied the right to own guns. Why? I am sure Americans trust Tim Allen.

As a Libertarian and lover of the constitution as an absolute, once those 'ex-felons' are back in society, they should have every right that everyone else has. If they can't be trusted in public with a weapon, they shouldn't be in public.

The thread is about the insurrectionists, their crimes and felons carrying guns.

Then it's a fantasy thread. Not one person in the Capitol riot has been charged with treason, sedition, insurrection, or anything like that, so they aren't "insurrectionists" except in your imagination.

You already know felons can't have guns in most states and there are strong restrictions to allow them to do so.

This is not entirely true. There are exceptions to that but they are still stringent and can be onerous. However, most of those charged are looking at misdemeanor charges not felonies and are likely to plea deal out to the former.

Anyone convicted of assaulting a police officer is guilty of a felony. Am I wrong there? Is it just a misdemeanor?

That's a few people among those charged, less than you can count on your fingers actually. I have put up a list of those charged and for what more than once now.

What part am I guilty of misrepresenting?

Both the charges and severity of those charges for those involved.

If you participated in an armed insurrection on the United States Capitol, you should lose your right to carry a firearm for life.

Agreed?

The law bans felons from owning weapons. But not all of the offenses were felonious! Some were totally innocent and many were just misdemeanors, while about 400 are felonious crimes.

people should be thankful they weren't carrying guns that day. it would have turned out a whole lot differently

Many were armed with firearms, as that is why the Congress Police resisted shooting at them as they knew they were outgunned- and out-manned.

If there were a shootout that day, those cops would have been slaughtered.

I do not know if that was actually true but yes some may have had that thought in mind. Probably best they only had to shoot one, think about what might have happened if SWAT teams had been guarding the Capital that day, my guess that there would have been a bloodbath with many dead rioters. This could have been far worse for everyone, hence why the current Security measures to deter further acts of right-wing violence.

I see you have an overinflated sense of government enforcement agents and a seriously underestimate of the ability of civilians/former military/law enforcement...................good, keep that in your mind so the shock will be better to see

Dude, if you think that rabble could have done anything against a real LEO of Military force that was properly armed you are delusional. Did You serve in law enforcement or the military?

as has been posted many times before........why are there no gun charges for any of those individuals??????? what FBI information do you have that says most of these people were carrying guns?

Most of the crowd was not armed. Who said they were?

The FBI director used the term "MANY were armed" in his Senate Briefing the other day. Of the thousands of available photo's, you do not see any guns amid the crowd?

What? Are you deaf- dumb- and BLIND?

the reports have been published multiple times on here, but i'll ask again WHY they weren't charged with firearms crimes???????????

Of every interview I have seen from the Congress policemen, and I've seen a few, most of them were asked why they didn't fire away at the people as they crawled through the windows and knocked down the doors.

They said, if they started the gunfight- they knew they would be outgunned basically- AND THEY WOULD HAVE.

I'm glad they didn't!

Next time- THEY WILL BE PREPARED TO SHOOT AT WILL!

I hope there is no next time but yes thinking the reaction will far more deadly.
