The day after Mr. Floyd’s death, the Police Department fired all four of the officers involved in the episode. On May 29, the Hennepin County attorney, Mike Freeman, announced third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter charges against Derek Chauvin, the officer seen most clearly in witness videos pinning Mr. Floyd to the ground. Mr. Chauvin, who is white, kept his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck for at least eight minutes and 15 seconds, according to a Times analysis of timestamped video. Our video investigation shows that Mr. Chauvin did not remove his knee even after Mr. Floyd lost consciousness and for a full minute and 20 seconds after paramedics arrived at the scene.

George Floyd should have been publicly hanged before that cop could abuse him.
They wanted The Sleeper outlawed, and this is worse, IMO.
A yoking out would have have been OK to calm George Floyd down, IMO.

I wouldn't kneel on somebody's neck like that, no. That's cruel and unusual punishment.
But..I've had to hold a crazy drunk dude in a yoke for ...probably hours at a party so he didn't hurt anyone there.
Somehow I got through that night without violence, nobody got hit. Nobody was busted up, and nobody died.
My party was over when I stopped him from going nuts.
I'm talking foaming at the mouth crazy he got. Not from the yoking, from crazy rage.
But after putting him to sleep I could relax for a decent while while he snored. Had to keep everything in position for if he woke up and went nuts again, though.
That was a friend of mine growing up. I coulda kicked his ass, but I didn't. He knew deep down I could, too.
But I could not talk his liquored up ass out of trying to hurt people at this party.
It is what it was.
It had to have been liquor that night.
I think just before that, it was "lick the salt, shot of tequila, jalapeno on saltine" time.
