Gulf Stream itself in danger of disruption - open discussion

Moon is convinced that 'global warming' essentially means 'climate change'. Neither phrase has any meaning. No one has ever defined either phrase. As a member of the Church of Global Warming, he believes that a Holy Gas somehow can affect the temperature of Earth. This is of course denying the 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics and the Stefan-Boltzmann law.

The point isn't that "Moon is convinced", or is it your contention that when a layman cites a scientific article he rather than the scientist becomes responsible for the article's assertions and other content?

Your overall argument in substituting your own ideas for those of people who know what they're talking about - the scientists in this case, is in keeping with your typical ignorant behavior.

It's evident to all and sundry that the Denier Choir does just precisely that.

Daily, the effects of climate change impact ever more severely . The time will come when you will accept it. You're looking pretty silly already- imagine what it's going to be like later.

time is running out.....flee to the Arctic Circle....bring beach sandals......

I deny your tenuous grasp of the principles.

1st law of thermodynamics: E(t+1) = E(t)-U
2nd law of thermodynamics: e(t+1) >= e(t)
Stefan-Boltzmann law: r = C*e*t^4

Please explain what is wrong with these equations and why you figure you have falsified them.

Define 'climate change'. You still insist on using this buzzword. Define it.

Moon can't handle actual discussion.

Like most liberals, he needs to drag his fascist safe spaces with him everywhere he goes.

Thanks for posting this travesty of junk science so it can be freely discussed & dismissed as the fearmongering garbage it is.

It takes at least two to tango! :D The thanks goes to people like you, for coming to this thread to discuss it. BTW, I noticed that Moon has also abandoned his original thread to come here. :D

You don't know what it is. That's why you're on my thread-ban list- along with other Deniers who have nothing to add .

I don't ban anyone, moonbat. Not even you, though you have added nothing to this thread so far other than insults and whining because you can no longer discuss this in your 'safe' world.

Moonban: So anxious to have a serious discussion about his pet lunatic obsession he bans anyone who disagrees with him from it

He really should stick to his anti-Semitic rant threads; that's his wheelhouse.

He tried this once before on this particular topic, he got angry with me then for bringing it out into public discussion then as well.
He's going to stew in his own juices. Let him.

Moon is a literal nazi loon....

this prediction reminds me of:

It should. The Church of Global Warming has been around a long time. It really became popular during the 70's, but was outranked by the Church of Ozone at the time. As you can see from this video, the Church of Global Warming stems from the Church of Green. They both stem from the Church of Karl Marx.

All of these are fundamentalist style religions.

The NAD is fed directly from the Gulf Stream.

North Atlantic Current, also called North Atlantic Drift, part of a clockwise-setting ocean-current system in the North Atlantic Ocean, extending from southeast of the Grand Bank, off Newfoundland, Canada, to the Norwegian Sea, off northwestern Europe. It constitutes the northeastward extension of the Gulf Stream; the latter issues from the Gulf of Mexico and gradually emerges as the North Atlantic Current in mid-ocean. It is composed of several broad currents with speeds of about 0.2 knots, as compared with the Gulf Stream’s rather concentrated flow at 1 to 6 knots.

Not quite true.

The North Atlantic Drift is a result of ocean water moving into the northwest Atlantic, but it is it's own current. Nothing is 'shutting it off' either.

The OP is making the argument that the Gulf Stream is getting 'shut down' by melting ice from Greenland. There are a few problems with this:

Greenland's ice isn't melting. It's not possible to measure the total ice and snow in Greenland, but it is possible to measure the ice depth in specific locations in central Greenland. Those depths are increasing everywhere they've been measured. Further, there is only one outlet for all that water to flow to the sea, and that is in the northwest of Greenland where there is a gap in the mountains. There is a glacier there, but there is no river flow anywhere approaching the size of the Missouri River which would be the result of melting ice in Greenland.

The Labrador current is not capable of shutting off any other current. As long as there is uneven heating of the Earth, ocean currents and air currents WILL flow. We couldn't stop them even if we wanted to.

Currents can and do shift in position slightly due to local weather and due to seasonal changes. This is true of both ocean and air currents.
