Yes, Texas’s Blackouts Are The Result Of Unreliable ‘Green’ Energy

The natural gas pipelines froze
Nope. Methane still gas in these lines. It hasn't become a liquid or solid.
and the South Texas nuclear plant shut down one reactor due to problems.
Unspecified problems.
Texas wind energy only supplies about 7-10% of the energy in the winter.
And where do you get this number from?
Even Governor Abbott backed off his claim the problem was caused by frozen wind turbines.
They ARE frozen and unable to operate.

Maybe we need to make sure power plants in Kansas can withstand tidal waves, while we're at it.

BTW, have you noticed how many people claim to be posting from a state that they claim has no electricity, Cap'n?

[h=1]‘Frozen windmills’ aren’t to blame for Texas’s power failure[/h]https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/02/18/frozen-windmills-arent-blame-texass-power-failure-neither-is-green-new-deal/

The claim is that some coal production was knocked offline, I saw this reported as that coal plants froze, I need to have it explained to me how coal plants freeze.

I have noticed that Legion. While they could have generators for electricity they would be bitching about the cold because their heating systems cannot keep up it. Hmmmmmm.

OK, please allow me to educate you on the matter!

Coal-Fired Power plants use Coal to Boil WATER to create steam to turn the generators that create the electricity.

Temperatures that hovered around "0" degrees F. for days froze because the tanks that hold the water and pipes that delivered the water were not winterized and FROZE UP AND WERE RENDERED USELESS!

Do you have a link indicating that this is what happened?

My instincts tell me that coal plants generally dont run in the winter, and that operators had shut them down for the winter and were not interested in opening them up, perhaps dont have and cant get the staff back in winter.

Idiot! California is now the world's 5th largest economy in the world, AND TEXAS IS THE 6th largest!

Try to educate yourself before you embarrass yourself again trying to be a smart ass and end up looking like a DUMB ASS!

No. Not at all. Look up California economy 2020-2021.

It's a puzzler, isn't it, Skip?

What would the generators have to keep up with? Unless one used natural gas for heat then a portable heater would be adequate in an emergency if one can get gas to run it with, and could afford one..

What is a puzzler (not really though), is why fools continue to blame a part of the system that only supplies 10-12% of the energy while ignoring that part that provides 50% of the energy.

Then too, if the same fools used common sense what would they have to whine about.
