Tea Parties defame the memory of our founding fathers.

jarod might have a point if people were actually claiming the tea parties are exactly like the one's our founding fathers were involved in. it is a logical extension to use the term as the protest about taxes. one does not have to be smarter than a fifth grader to see some similarity.

whats funny is the liberals extreme fear of these tea parties. i mean what exactly is wrong with their message? i haven't seen a single that both parties should disagree with....stop excessive spending, stop unlimited spending, stop raising taxes....

i guess liberals love unlimited spending and raising taxes...

I am not afraid of the silly tea parties. In fact, I think these people whining about paying there part is funny, especally when the majority of them voted for GWB, twice!

holy crap folks, jarod is right. i was so wrong. look at these horrible citizens defaming our founding fathers with these "tea parties"....if you have a weak stomach, don't read anymore of this post:

Hosting an Afternoon Tea Party
Perfect for So Many Occasions

When thinking about tea parties, do you find yourself overwhelmed with thoughts of the British gentry, scenes from Alice in Wonderland, Victorian decor, blue haired ladies and pinky fingers stuck up in the air? If so, you're both right and wrong. You're right because as the tradition of "Afternoon" Tea has developed over time, it has become an elegant affair. You're wrong because "High" Tea was often enjoyed by the British working class as their evening supper, with heartier fare than the tea sandwiches and scones that are now associated with tea time.

how dare they use the term 'tea party' and spit on our founding fathers like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

true, but in my opinion they are corrupting one of the great stories of our nations foundation by calling it a tea party.

look at the photo on Palmbeachpost.com, George Washington, with "WTF" comming out of his mouth.
That's silliness they simply used a historical theme. In your opinion anything they did would be wrong. They don't defame anything, what they do here is about something they find significant.

Like I said, they (and you) have representation, you just don't like it. And forgive me if I believe that if John McCain were president these tea parties would never have happened.

I have no representation. I have opposition to my beliefs in a lot of areas in Washington D.C. Unfortunately I have to agree with your last part. I would have hoped that if McCain had proposed some of the same things being proposed right now, along with the bailouts mortgaging away more of our future, that there would have been protests also. But like you, I don't think there would have been......which is why I asked on another thread something like, "Where were these people 3, 4, 5, or 6 years ago?"

read the protest signs....it says nothing about not paying their part. it is about unlimited spending and seemingly unlimited taxation. that has zero to do with paying their share. in fact, the main issue is really spending.

you're being dishonest by creating this strawman about their share.

Then why were the protests planned on the day the taxes are due?

i wonder why jarod never whined about these parties....

good lord, if you can't make the connection....

as i said, it is also about taxation....what better way to get your point across about spending than on the day the government "takes" your money so it can spend it.

of course most people pay taxes as they go along, but that is the day taxes are truly due.

I find it hilariously Ironic that the group who despised the founding fathers the most for prescribing a very limited and specifically enumerated set of powers to keep the size of the central government small, are now trying to claim that they are being defamed by their political opponents for voicing their same beliefs.

Listen and do try to pay attention moron.... these protests are NOT about people being upset about paying their 'fair share'.... the protests are about wasteful government spending and the giant friggin hole that is being dug by the idiots in DC. 49 straight years of watching the hole get deeper... this year will be 50.

But they have representation. They just don't like the representation. Elections have consequences. This isn't Little League. There are losers. The tea party nitwits lost and are now pitching a collective hissy fit. And that's fine, but lets not pretend that there is some noble cause here other than sour grapes after a resounding electoral defeat.

Absolutely, we reasonable Americans had to put up with Bush for 8 years.

Whiney assed Republicans.

But didn't you say bush would fix all of that?
We had what 6 years of total Republican control under Bush.
And now you whine that Obama has not fixed your mess in a couple of months.

read his spending plans, he has put us in more debt that bush ever did, obama is spending far, far more than bush...

but you keep deflecting onto and ignore obama's insane spending....whatever helps you sleep at night

waaaaa, bush, waaaaa, bush....

The Boston Tea Party was about taxation without representation... not about whining about paying ones share.

I find it embarrasing to see Americans using the memory of these great men as an excuse to whine about paying there part.
I carried a sign that said "All Americans should pay taxes"

I think the protests, at least the ones shown on the news I watched (local CBS), were indeed about taxation without representation. Sure we get a lot from our taxes: Roads, benefits for some that need them and such, but there is a lot of waste and therein is the "without representation" part. Certainly what I saw was valid and not "disrespectful" at all.

You know, I really love the classic crutch off the opposition when asked what they'd eliminate. "Oh, waste!!!" they say. Yep, there's a huge pile of trillions of dollars of waste somewhere, that obviously needs to be cut, that isn't being cut because of some huge conspiracy.

I don't think it is so much the election itself with a lot of folks (with the exception of the nutty lady who wished Bush was still in office) as to the choices in the election. Most folks (like me) were disgusted at the two it came down to, neither of which would give us the representation we desired. And by the time a lot of us get to vote in the primaries the choice has been made for us so that our vote then really doesn't matter.

Yes LR. Becuase it's all about you and what you want. In every election, there should be an idealistic politician who represents your political views exactly, otherwise the election is illegitimate.

Ok, it is my opinion that giving $3.8 million for Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy is waste. Especially in the current economic situation.

It is also my opinion that giving $1.9 million for the Pleasure Beach water taxi service in Connecticut is wasteful as hell.

And since you bring up opinion, these protestors were out expressing their opinion about the situation.

LOL. Thanks for eliminating 0.000000000000000001% of the budget in one fell swoop sol! You've solved all our problems!
