Proud to do my part... largest check ever!

Liberals donate less to charity compared to Conservatives, despite the fact that Liberals' income (on average) is higher. This is a proven fact. So, it makes sense that Liberals feeeel good when they pay higher taxes. It makes them feel like they're doing something good for others, when in reality they are not.

I am a Democrat and support many of the government programs. I am staunchly pro-life (as opposed to pro-death) and thus do not support anything dealing with government paying for abortion. But I do think the poor and elderly should be taken care of. My problem is that I have seen far too much waste in government spending most of my adult life. I know we could get by paying less in taxes but no one has ever reall tried, at least since I started paying them. I really think Clinton, despite his moral flaws, did a better job than GW Bush did in this area. I also have to say that I liked Mike Huckabee's flat tax support. I think they (the government) needs to find a way to make it work.

Really enjoyed the blog, SF. I don't know if that would work or not but I do like the numbers better than our past or current numbers.

Well, the actual percentage might have to be adjusted, but the foundation is solid. A simply one page tax code. Something everyone could understand and due to its simplicity would be very hard for people to committ fraud (or in the case of the Obama cabinet... forget they have to pay taxes). A code that is both progressive and fair. A code that includes a mandatory paydown of the national debt.

Way way way too many lobbyists for this to ever make it through DC.

I don't mean homosexual I'm mean gay.
Like a guy wearing a fanny pack or croks.
Anyone who like to pay taxes is Gay

Nah, we'd have to call a constitutional convention and put it in there.

Zero's Hero

Tim Geithner, is the 75th and current United States Secretary of the Treasury, serving under President Barack Obama. He was previously the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He also failed to pay his taxes.

There is of course the possibility that Alex is full of shit, he probably doesn't enjoy paying taxes but since he is forced to anyway he may as well put on his cheerful face and try and get others to warm to big government Liberalism.

Anyone remember the tax-me-more options that were set up for Liberals to pay more like they kept saying they wanted to? Those took in next to nothing. Arkansas got like between 2000 - 3000 extra. Pathetic.

Liberal Democrats don't really want to pay higher taxes by themselves they just want to make everyone suffer equally and are in love with equal societal sacrifice.

This is a very good point.

Did everyone here wait until just now? I did my taxes way earlier this year. I needed my money back...and got it all back, I did!

Not that they still didn't spend all my withholding on something worthless before they pried it from somebody else and "gave" it back to me.

We did, too; got our refund about a month and a half ago.

I just got my biggest refund ever. I was proud to accept it.

Well, I was going to say that all this meant was that you gave the government the biggest interest free loan you had ever given them before, but then I saw your post about the first time home buyer credit and realized it was just that you found that little governmental gift.

Question: Did you know that if you bought your house before 1/1/2009 (better check the date on that) that you have to pay that back (over 15 years interest free) starting the second year after you got the credit? People who buy their home after 1/1/9 don't have to pay it back.

Still, $7,500 dollars interest free is a nice little gift especially if you use it to pay off credit cards or other debt.

Well, said, I would have repped you but there is a silly thing about spreading the rep around. /shrugs.

I just wrote the largest single check Ive ever written, and was welled up with pride as I did it, to be able to contribute to this great nation, and pay my part!

I am proud to be an American and personally belive I am getting my money's worth!

I, for one, am very very happy for you...I hope and pray that next year you will experience even more pride....I pray that your pride doubles or even triples....
but if it doesn't, you can still write that check for double or triple....no one is preventing that...so, don't be a hypocrite, write that big check whether you need to or not...and don't forget your wife...write one for her too...

Hey! Wonl't the falling economy/stock prices cause people to pay less taxes due to losses?

I guess you can call the crash Bush's final tax cut for the wealthy :D
