now if only Obama had actually given the order to take out the pirates, you'd have a good point.
He did, he gave the authority to the comander in the field that if they felt the captian's life was in danger to take out the pirates.

He actually gave the order several times. My question is how "in danger" was the hostage's life? Were these kids really so stupid as to believe they would get anywhere alive if they killed that man?
The French lost a man. Had we lost this captian, the cons would be all over Obama for not passing the first signifigant test.

hmmmm, kind of bland reporting. I'm witholding both praise and criticism at this point. thats not what i heard from msnbc within hours after the operation, but we'll see.
I'll say one thing. He did better than Jimmy Carter and as well as any other person would in that situation. There really was only one thing he could do.
The French did a far more risky boarding party, the situation was different. But when lives are threatened you either cave, or you do something. I'm glad he did something.

Once upon a time Id have said a rag tag group of 20 amature pilots did not a terrorist make.

They both use terror to accomplish a goal. Id say they are a type of terrorist, especally when they ransom people upon threat of murder.
