We also need to get rid of the two-party system. Dutch Uncle's comment about human nature is not very precise. Human nature is not binary. One choice for "liberals" and one choice for "conservatives" is not human nature. The Democratic and Republican parties have more responsibility for the hell we're in than any other influence. I would prefer a multi-party system that acknowledges the spectrum of political thought in the country and forces politicians to build coalitions.
