The Trump Cult vs. Societal Norms

Whether it's a game of checkers with your kid, a property dispute with a neighbor, an NFL football game, or an election, society has identified the rules of engagement whenever there is a dispute or a contest between people. We've accepted that there are rules, and there are officials, judges and referees that interpret and enforce those rules. We accept these rules and norms because without them, we cannot function as a society. Without these norms, our disputes can never be resolved without violence. Applying those norms to the 2020 election yields a simple and straightforward result. Joe Biden won the election by a wide margin. There was a rulebook, the officials enforced the rulebook, the courts addressed any controversies and disputes. This is how we function as a society. What has happened with the cult of Trump is that a large segment of our population has thrown out the rulebook, and declared that the rules are set by one person, and only one person. They have decided that they can simply ignore the agreed upon norms and replace them with the absolute authority of Donald Trump. The election was stolen, not because the rules and the arbiters determined that it was stolen, but because Donald Trump said so. For the cult, that is the alpha and the omega. They have suggested that the rules no longer apply to our country. Our Constitution is meaningless. Our laws are meaningless. Our courts are meaningless Our institutions are meaningless. They have rejected the American system of government, in place since 1776, in service of their Dear Leader.

Where does that leave the Trump cult? It leaves them as supporters of a dictator who was unsuccessful in his attempt to stay in power. And as with all dictators and their followers, when they lose their grip they resort to violence. That's where we are. The cult expects the rest of us to reject American Democracy, and are absolutely stunned that we refuse to do so. Where do we go from here? I have no idea, but I don't see any possibility of reconciliation with a group that listens only to one person. I don't see a way to unify with that kind of delusion.

questioning the results, or using the courts, or not certifying electors is what the Dems did
drop the drama

When I look at the conduct of the Trumpoids after Trump lost, I can only see uncivilized barbarians.

Uncivilized barbarians who have been brainwashed. They are ISIS. No more, no less. If they could, they would execute people and film it.

The thing about the Regressive Left that folks are beginning to notice is that they constantly yap nonsense....they live in an alternate universe.

Either that or they are lying yet again.

"Power, there is only power!"

You've got a point, they're on the same level as the Isis terrorist; at the Jan 6 riot they were looking for Pelosi and Pence with the intention of executing them.

Yep. It's hilarious that they think they are somehow better. Every radicalized person believes THEIR cause is the only just cause that exists, and anyone that does not support their cause is an enemy who should be killed. They have that in common with ISIS. The only difference is who they worship. That's who they are. They are soulless and immoral. They hate their country, their neighbors, and anyone who disagrees with them. They are terrorists. Some are more active than others, but they are all the same in my book. Not one of them has done any soul searching. They are too busy obsessing over the latest Hunter Biden kerfuffle.

I don't think that it is possible either. That is the nature of a cult. Either you belong, and worship the cult leader along with your fellow members, or you stand outside and shake your head in wonder. They truly believe the myth that #TRE45ON created the best economy ever (we were in recession last year before the pandemic took hold). They believe that he isn't racist and that ppl of all colors are fellow worshipers (*snort*). They believe that Russia and NK are our BFFs, and China is our foe and not just economically. (The latter is somewhat true, the former totally false.) They believe that the ex-IMPOTUSx2 is a Godly man (*snort*).

You simply cannot create unity with ppl who insist that lies are truth. Where could you even begin?

rofl..
you aren't even trying.. you make up this crazed scenario -overlooking precedent and expect to force feed it.

no..

There is no precedent. Impeachment is in the rule book. Predicated investigations are in the rule book. Special prosecutors are in the rule book. Democrats did not throw out the rule book. They attempted to use it.

you wouldn't last a second under ISIS. neither would I
the fact you have to deflect to international terrorist to label Trump supporters as such shows your ideas are bankrupt and this thread is massive fail.. thanks for playing
