Killers love guns

"We can work together to enact common-sense laws, like closing the gun show loophole and improving our background check system, so that guns do not fall into the hands of terrorists or criminals. From South Central L.A. to Newark, New Jersey, there’s an epidemic of violence that’s sickening the soul of this nation. One good example, this is consistently blocked, the efforts by law enforcement to obtain the information required to trace back guns that have been used in crimes to unscrupulous gun dealers. That’s not something that the NRA has allowed to get through Congress. And, as president, I intend to make it happen. I am not in favor of concealed weapons."

President Barack Obama

Obama is not in favor of any kind of liberty. To him liberty is building a society entirely dependent on a massive and bloated government, from wages derived through government mandated employment to government controlled businesses because they cannot make the right decisions for themselves, to government controlled health care system, to total dependence on government mandated retirement systems by taxing the ever loving hell out of private retirement via "reasonable" taxation of capital gains. Of course he is not in favor of any ownership of firearms - though he still will not ADMIT to what his own voting record clearly states. To him, anyone who opposes his vision of "change" is "clinging to bibles and guns.

"I said something that everybody knows is true, which is that there are a whole bunch of folks in small towns in Pennsylvania, in towns right here in Indiana, in my hometown in Illinois, who are bitter. So I said well you know when you're bitter you turn to what you can count on. So people they vote about guns, or they take comfort from their faith and their family and their community. Now, I didn't say it as well as I should have. If I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that. The underlying truth of what I said remains, which is simply that people who have seen their way of life upended because of economic distress are frustrated and rightfully so."

President Barack Obama

It's as true today as it was in 2008 thanks to gunlovers who can't accept the reality that change has come and their time is over.

We call it taking the piss. I didn't think I would have to tell you.

What was it you said previously about thinking you were on a forum for intelligent adults?

Posts like this are certainly not intelligent and hardly mature.

A lot of expertise there ....
x being the unknown quantity and a 'spurt' being a drip under pressure!
Anything else you wanna brag about..... SAH?

I think it depends on the particular service. A Marine has a much more right to brag than a drill status Air National Guardsman such as myself... A Navy SEAL has the most to be proud of, having been a part of the greatest fighting force on Earth.

Now, seriously, go hang yourself...

LOL, the poster is rather rude.

Look at the news. How many killings with guns will America put up with before we act? President Obama and Attorney General Holder are ready to do whatever it takes to get guns off the streets. Nobody should have a gun, nobody needs a gun.
Guns are responsible for thwarting more crime than those crimes committed with guns. Why would you deny law-abiding citizens the ability to protect themselves?

When gun control becomes the law of the land the law-abiding will obey.

I would argue that Delta Force is the greatest fighting force. But If they are second I can live with that.

Bush did nothing about Somali pirates, guess they didn't have enough oil.

thats flat wrong :pke:

WASHINGTON -- In the waning days of the Bush administration, the National Security Council issued a detailed yet little-noticed plan for combating piracy off the coast of Somalia.

The 14-page blueprint, issued in December, committed the U.S. government and its military to securing the sea lanes of the Gulf of Aden -- through which, the plan noted, nearly 12% of the world's oil is transported -- and laid out more than a dozen specific policy initiatives that the White House would take to make sure Somali pirates did not choke off the world's commercial shipping.

Bush did nothing.

President Obama's order authorized force for a group of military assets that arrived at the scene late last week. When more resources arrived, Obama added them to a roster of military personnel allowed to engage militarily with the Somali pirates.

White House officials on Sunday said Obama received regular updates by phone and in person at the White House. The president was in the residence when officials called him to alert him the five-day standoff was over.

Obama said more must be done to prevent future attacks along the lawless African coast, where other ships remain under pirate control.

"We remain resolved to halt the rise of piracy in this region. To achieve that goal, we must continue to work with our partners to prevent future attacks, be prepared to interdict acts of piracy and ensure that those who commit acts of piracy are held accountable for their crimes."

To that end, White House officials say the Justice Department is looking at evidence and considering whether to file criminal charges against a Somali pirate captured during the standoff.

If so many of you think that death is the answer to everything why can't you promote the idea within your own party?
You are all barking bloody mad!

In previous posts in this thread you talked about how the problems of poverty and starvation lead to violence.

Now you advocate violence to fight piracy, and seem perfectly willing to ignore the devastating poverty and despair in Somalia.

Why is it that the criminals in the USA are victims, despite them having access to education and job training in a very productive nation. And yet you have no compassion for those people in Somalia, and they have little or no options in their lives.

Funny how that works. Is it because there is a difference? Or is it because of your unnatural fondness for Obama?

The Obama administration differentiates itself from the Bush administration by taking a more cautious, less aggressive approach.

Options considered by President Obama included increased financial pressure and heightened diplomatic activity aimed at resolving the overall political turmoil in Somalia.

Somali elders tried to negotiate the release of the U.S. captain, but failed to persuade the pirates.

"We must continue to work with our partners to prevent future attacks, be prepared to interdict acts of piracy and ensure that those who commit acts of piracy are held accountable for their crimes", President Obama said.

Snipers are considered the "less aggressive approach"?

I have no problem with Obama taking the steps he did.

I am just questioning why you consider the american criminals victims, but Somali pirates as disposable and worthy of being shot?

I am not asking for a comparison of Bush.

I don't suppose that the fact that having guns in your house (or person) increases the chances of being involved in a violent tragedy has occurred to you.

The National Research Council (2005) examined the scientific literature on self-defense gun use. They concluded that: "self-defense is an ambiguous term," that whether one is a defender or a perpetrator may depend on perspective, and that "we do not know accurately how often armed self-defense occurs or even how precisely to define self-defense" . The claim that there are 2.5 million self-defense gun uses each year received no support.

Moreover, claims about the high frequency of self-defense gun use are contradicted by the data, which consistently show gun use in self-defense is very rare.

FACT is that epidemiological studies on point are vey clear: having a gun in the house increases one's chance of that houshold being involved in a gun crime (domestic violence being the most common) or being involved in a tragic accident- or a suicide.

Fear-driven gun ownership is based on innaccurate and irrational risk assessment, which results ironically in making the owner and members of their household and significant others more more vulnerable to the very thing that they fear.

The decriminalization of some drug-related offenses on a national basis would save money that could be used for education and rehabilitation. Beef up preventive programs like SCHOOLS and JOB TRAINING- esoecially literacy training - a dollar spent here will reap savings in the criminal justice system as the best predictors of criminality are of course: POVERTY and ILLITERACY. Effective drug treament and mental health services are also a good investment.
