Well, there hasn’t actually been an insurrection lol.
So we don’t have one one to discuss. The point is the Coup Lawyer was involved in the first failed attempt at removing a duly elected President.
And it’s ‘water under the bridge’ ‘nothing to see here’.
Dems had embarked on a bizarre, three-year litany of dreaming of impeachment, the emoluments clause, the Logan Act, the 25th Amendment, fake FISA abuse, "Russian collusion" the Mueller special-counsel investigation, Stormy Daniels and Michael Avenatti, Trump’s tax returns, White Supremacy!, Recession! Russian oligarchs! Whistle Blower! Impeachment & Aquittal! — and Lord knows what next -WAIT Impeachment again!

There is no ground for assuming that the idea in the OP was a poor one, the much more likely explanation is that the JPP membership failed to support the OP.
