Another Obama Nominee Has Tax Issues
Posted by Brian Montopoli

(CBS)
Kathleen Sebelius, President Obama's nominee to become Health and Human Services secretary, said in a letter obtained by the Associated Press that she made "unintentional errors" on her taxes and has corrected her returns from three different years.

In the letter, which was sent to senators and dated today, Sebelius wrote that she had made changes related to charitable contributions, business expenses and the sale of a home, according to the AP.

The wire service reports that she and her husband paid just over $7,000 in back taxes, along with $878 in interest, for the years 2005-2007.

Tom Daschle, the president's first HHS nominee, previously withdrew from consideration over tax issues, as did chief performance officer nominee Nancy Killefer.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, US Trade Representative Ron Kirk and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, meanwhile, were confirmed despite issues related to their taxes.

LOL

Democrats never like to pay their fair share, the unpatriotic fucks.

Sounds like the folks in charge of vetting Palin got jobs in the Obama administration.

Man I thought Billy Clinton was bad, this has got to be by far the most "corrupt" administration, right from the get go..
if us peon citizens had these types of problems, we'd probably be in jail..

It's funny when you put it that way; I have to admit...I really don't care.

thanks for admitting you are party over country....i am just oh so positive if this was a republican admin you would say the same :pke:

Nope; I just think issues like this are BS. Competence & the ability to do your job are paramount.

I didn't criticize Bush for BS like this; there were plenty of bigger fish to fry in that admin, particularly with competence.

I know you just love saying "party over country," though...

jesus lorax is a fucking clown.

he doesn't care about the treas sec. being a tax cheat. But by golly, that rush limbaugh is a huge problem!!

1) Anyone have any evidence that she was treated any differently from anyone else? She made a mistake on her taxes, corrected it and paid penalties and interest. That's the way it works for everyone.

2) And not to excuse this but the tax code is generally fucked and needs to be fixed.

3) I want to see the tax records of every Senator making hay over this. Last I read there were scores of Senators that refused to report to the press whether they had to correct their tax returns and whether they ever paid penalties and interest.

Okay; because of the intense drama & outrage displayed on this thread, I have decided to try to care. Here goes; I must care about this. It is very important. I am going to care.

Rats. Didn't work.

I really tried, though.

funny how a lot of his appoints make "mistakes" on their taxes..but we all know if this was a Republican they would labeled a, tax cheat..

yet these are the clowns we have running our government, making tax laws for Us citizens..

man do they think we are all suckers..and from the looks of it, a lot are.

I agree, competence is certainly a key.... if it was ONE tax year that a mistake was made... that can happen and is understandable. When it is THREE years... that shows incompetence.

For the duties of her job?

I knew a genius computer programmer at one time; guy was paid an absolute bundle. Eccentric as hell, and couldn't really dress himself. He had a whole closet full of the same pants & shirts, so he wouldn't have to give it any thought.

He was a basically incompetent dresser, but a genius computer programmer, who anyone would hire in a second.

Totally agree with number two. See my blog entry for the best tax code. Simple. Fair. Progressive. Even the morons in DC should be able to do their taxes correctly.

Also.. totally agree with number 3. Though I would expand it to every member of Congress. How many of these idiots are 'making mistakes' on their taxes?

Slightly different. One... the computer programmer is good at computer programming.... and does that well (oddly enough I also know a computer genius that is really really bad with common sense and most other topics).

That said, she is being asked to run a department of the government. Which entails budgets, planning, paying attention to the details. Like I said, making a mistake one year is understandable. Doing so for three years is incompentent.
