Let me ask you this if I may. I'm sure my experience is the same as many others, before the election no matter where we turned we heard people say, "vote", "you need to vote", "get out and vote and make your voice heard" etc. etc. And we would hear some lamenting about the lack of turnout and why more people don't vote, all the way up to a few saying we should make voting mandatory.

Based on what you're saying, am I wrong to say you don't agree with that?

That would be an inaccurate statement. I think democracy thrives best when voter turnout is maximal. I sometimes post in hyperbolic fashion. I do believe that Trump supporters are the scum of the earth, but I would not disenfranchise them. I just don't think they have the qualifications to exist in a country like this. The Founders knew that this democratic republic would be hard and would require wide access to quality information. They knew that a Trump would someday threaten the entire experiment. We have barely survived it so far. I still am not convinced that this country will actually withstand this time period in its current form.
