PGA has stripped trump Bedminster of 2022 PGA Championship

There's a difference. Although we won't know until after Biden is President, I think Pence doesn't want to be put into a position of being pressured to pardon Trump by the "Hang Pence" mob. Pence can't control what Trump does, but he can certainly control what he does.

There could be many reasons for this and I think most are factored in: On the low end, Pence probably wants to run for President himself in 2024. That is unlikely if he refused to pardon Trump. On the higher end, he probably despises Trump's lack of ethics, lack of Christian morality and wouldn't pardon Trump or any of his family because they are criminals who have harmed the United States.

My guess is that he goes to bed praying every night that Trump doesn't do anything stupid and just rides out the term. Think about the best case scenario, which is that, IMO, and the worst case where Trump decides to play "President Greg Stillson" anxious to launch nukes forcing Pence to exercise the 25th Amendment (probably previously discussed with top Republicans) and then refusing to pardon the Coward-in-Chief thereby incurring the wrath of Trump's nutjobs.
Mother Told Him Not To Run!

Not a lawyer, but all such rulings are extensively written. With all the lawyers on this forum, they would be better people to ask. Unfortunately, not a single one of them cares to cite case law or anything other their personal opinions as far as I've seen.
Well, a conservative court decided that corporations are people. A different court might have decided otherwise, but here we are.

But it wasn’t until the 1886 case Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Rail Road that the Court appeared to grant a corporation the same rights as an individual under the 14th Amendment.
The case is remembered less for the decision itself—the state had improperly assessed taxes to the railroad company—
than for a headnote added to it by the court reporter at the time, which quoted Chief Justice Morrison Waite as saying: “The Court does not wish to hear argument on the question whether the provision in the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution which forbids a state to deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws applies to these corporations. We are all of opinion that it does.”

Good points, but laws change. Look at gay marriage issues over time.

Pence would only have to pardon trump. Nothing stops him from pardoning his own family before he steps down.

Moot point. trump could NEVER step down.

Agreed.

Similarly, that was a Liberal court joined by Kennedy with every other Conservative dissenting. Timing, as it were. But that overturned the denial of equal rights to certain humans.

Citizens United is a stretch, but it seems the 14th has been twisted into knots in quite a few cases over the centuries.

Times change. Notice, too, the progression of wide cultural acceptance to the idea. Everything in it's time.

FWIW, I think tech will alter the equation more towards the Star Trek universe than the Alien one with corporations owning the planet. It comes down to developing a renewable energy resource capable of powering anything we desire (think Mr. Fusion) and 3D printers capable of printing anything (think replicators). Maybe in a hundred years, maybe less.

Think how the world will change when oil becomes a worthless pollutant while diamonds and gold easily printed like text on paper. How would the world be different with such tech?

Some one is gonna be pissed. :dunno:

PGA President Jim Richerson says the board voted to exercise its right to “terminate the agreement” with Trump National in Bedminster, New Jersey.

“We find ourselves in a political situation not of our making,” Seth Waugh, the CEO of the PGA of America, said in a telephone interview. “We’re fiduciaries for our members, for the game, for our mission and for our brand. And how do we best protect that? Our feeling was given the tragic events of Wednesday that we could no longer hold it at Bedminster. The damage could have been irreparable. The only real course of action was to leave.”

The PGA is at Kiawah Island in South Carolina in May.

“We’ve had a number of places reach out already,” Waugh said. “We think we’ll have a bunch of options.”

The PGA of America, which has some 29,000 golf professionals who mostly teach the game, signed the deal with Trump National in 2014.

It canceled the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in 2015 at Trump National Los Angeles Golf Club after Trump’s disparaging remarks about Mexican immigrants when he announced he was seeking the Republican nomination for president. The event was canceled for good the following spring.

The shocking insurrection Wednesday rattled the country, and in golf circles, attention quickly focused on whether the PGA of America would keep its premier championship — and one of golf’s four major championships — at Trump’s course in 2022.

“Our decision wasn’t about speed and timing,” Waugh said. “What matters most to our board and leadership is protecting our brand and reputation, and the ability for our members to lead the growth of the game, which they do through so many powerful programs in their communities.”

Trump had delivered a speech to his supporters in which he repeatedly made baseless claims that the election was stolen from him and urged them to “fight.”

They stormed the U.S. Capitol as lawmakers were in the process of certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s victory. After forcing their way inside, the violent crowd ransacked the building and sent terrified staff and lawmakers into hiding. Five people, including a Capitol police officer, died.

A new ABC News/Ipsos poll released Sunday found that 67% of respondents said Trump deserves a “good amount” or a “great deal” of blame for the insurrection.

Meh.

Well, if Sleepy Joe gets in the oval office you will not be permitted to THINK any person is mentally ill - because one thing the leftie libs are good at is shutting down free speech to cover their own failings and impairments. This is what PC is about.

Another Source of Revenue GONE for the Trump Family ... but don’t worry, they got Trained Idiots who will give them Money.

Yep, we know about 200+ million of his save his America & reelection....:laugh: He can pretty much do what he wants w/ it & is not required to return it.... Great cash in on his family keep out of jail fund-that will buy lots of attorneys & appeals

Trumpco's strategy is to sue innocent people into submission. He won't win and the value of his properties will drop like rocks even as his legal bills pile up.

Consider for a moment all of Trump's legal problems. Donnie might very well end up saying "dead broke" without lucrative $250K speaking engagements to fall back upon. He will always have some hardcore fans, but, unlike Hillary, Trump will shed most of his fans like snakes shed their skin. He'd be wise to shut up, move forward and salvage what he can. Instead, he's just digging himself in deeper.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Trump will keep digging. I'm happy to give him and his fans a bigger shovel just for the LOLs.
For 4 years, he simply doubled down on his lies, and then created another soundbite to overtake news coverage of the last one.

After the Jan. 6 stunt, whomever is left on his legal team has finally convinced him that he's going to be held liable for the violence at the Capitol.

The only thing missing from his recent videos is a masked, knife wielding advisor threatening him as he reads from the script.

As Politalker posted; invest in popcorn stock since it's about to go up! :D
