I suspect that Blow has been reading DuBois’s’s books lately. As an African-American who grew up in Michigan and moved to Georgia more than 20 years ago, I can attest to the fact that blacks moving to Georgia, particularly to Atlanta, is not new.
Atlanta has had black mayors, City Councils, and City Administrators For almost 50 years, and it’s home to approx. 2.4 million black-owned businesses as well as the most black millionaires in the world. But one of the biggest draws here for African-Americans is it’s culture and society. I was hesitant to move to Georgia for the same reasons stated in the article, it’s the goddamn south, but I have been pleasantly surprised to discover that black and white interactions are FAR better than they are in Michigan, or even California where I lived for 12 years.
If Stacy Abrams wants to be Governor of Georgia, she could start ordering curtains for the Governors office the same day she announces, and like the Senare races, that won’t be just because of the black voter because many white voters are part of the Abrams machine, just as many white voters consistently vote for black mayors and administrators. It is truly an awakening of a new south. Additionally, because black people vote as a bloc, regardless of where we live, we bring our politics wherever we move, and with the increase of Latino people in the state and elsewhere who bring like politics, it only increases political power for both groups in many races.

Both Farrakhan and Duke want 'Enclaves'. The impression I get is, some 'White Enclave' in Idaho, and some 'Black Enclave' in Mississippi.
You state "No one wants a "reservation," why should they". Charles Blow (though 'Enclaves' is NOT his suggestion or position) is saying something similar, 'Racial Majority'.
So, taking this a step further, with 'White Supremacists' and 'Black Separatists' in mind, maybe 'Ethno-Reservations' are something to consider?
