Is the military taking a public relations hit on this?

If they know you are because you disclosed it.

How do they weed them out if the applicant doesn't tell them or admit his beliefs during the screening process?

Ever consider that?

Or do you think they have it tattooed across their foreheads?

Wow, okay.

Typical posting of a 4F loser. There are around 18,000,000 US veterans so you insult us by trying to lump us in with a handful of malcontent haters.

Agreed.

IIRC, he claims to be a lawyer. Should we shit on all lawyers for not speaking up for every crime committed by a member of their party or their political leanings? I'm guessing they'd flip flop very quickly if he'd posted this:
Some of these terrorist dogs apparently are ex lawyers. Some of the C.H.U.D. who post here also align with Clinton.
Even fewer, but still a couple, who claim to be lawyers after this terrorist mission to attack the capitol of the United States of America and kill our democratically elected officials

including Pelosi, still support the terrorists.

Do we need to look closer at who we allow in the legal profession? Should blacks be allowed anymore?

In seriousness, there is more than a hint of paralegal trappings claimed in this shit. Anyone bothered.

ANY LEGAL POSERS HERE WILLING TO SHOUT DOWN PELOSI AND HER TARDS? Thought not.
Hypocrisy and bigotry are always wrong.

Sooooo, you're saying liberals never, ever do or say anything stupid. Awesome.

Nice job of evasion. Thanks for not claiming to be a fucking lawyer. The fact remains Trump is grossly wrong but your attempts to shit all over America's men and women in uniform only goes to prove how much you hate them.

False. I am still waiting for the chin out military crowd here to start even a single thread denouncing the scum who attacked our US Capitol.
Is there some reason that there are none?????? Plenty from the American citizens the right here spit on and call unpatriotic, every-single-day,
without a single instance of them attacking our government like Al Quaida did.

If it was al qaida climbing our capitol, every person here would be shouting get them, get them fucking now!!!!!!
Well, can I get a single thread? Even one? The silence is deafening.

There are two kinds of ex-military types. Those who wanted to serve, and those who wanted to shoot a phallic symbol as compensation. The latter won't shut up about being in the military and how tough they are and how valuable they will be in the coming civil war. There are now studies that indicate that personality type is most likely a Trump worshipper, and the type that won't condemn what happened.

Agreed.

Except those who attacked the capitol are not lawyers. None of them unless you can point them out to me. But a goodly number were ex military and Retrumplcans.
In fact lawyers saved the US in this instance.

The crux of my thread is about military people ON THIS WEBSITE none of whom have started a thread to clean the Republican house.
Can I extrapolate from that? Not in any particular instance. But ON THIS BOARD I CAN AND DO.

Try again.

If you can't see how invalid and moronic that comparison is, then you shouldn't be posting on any political forum.

First of all, there aren't several lawyers here who align with Clinton and who attacked the US Capitol.

I could plug any group in there like you did and come up with the same kind of meaningless nonsense you did.

How about Catholics aligned with the Pope? Christians aligned with Billy Graham? How about NASCAR fans aligned with Richard Petty? How about restaurant chefs aligned with Emiril Lagasse?

See how stupid your weak attempt at making a point was?

Fact: There are members of this board who claim to be ex-military and who aligned themselves with Trump and who have yet to denounce the abhorrent behavior if their fellow Trump supporters.

Just plugging the name of some other group into his post proves nothing and made no sense.

Dutch Uncle isn't particularly bright or astute, is he?

And it appears there are zero of the former type on this website. They appear to jump to attack me instead of attacking the latter type. Thanks for pointing that out.
That's the essential point. Succintly made. Thanks Concart.

Let's just say I'm still waiting. I'm looking for patriotic conviction and honesty more than brilliance.
If we can't get people on board (a flip, as it were) after a failed coup de etat, I hold out little hope.

I am not trying to lump anyone. I want people on this site who have repeatedly claimed to be military, and therefore exceedingly more patriotic than the rest of us,
to prove it. The US Capitol was attacked. I find it passingly interesting that there are ZERO threads. Count em. Zero by military here, attacking the attackers who trashed
the Capitol and had zip ties and killed 4. Prove I'm wrong and I'll give you 20 kneels and salutes.

Background checks, even for recruits and most certainly for officers. As we've seen with the douchebags who ransacked the Capitol, most have had run-ins with the law. While it's true that "needs of the service" prevail such as Cheney's war in Iraq, radical extremism goes against the needs of the service. Sure, some slip through. Any active military who were arrested at the Capitol coup will undoubtedly face criminal military charges, something Trump won't be around to pardon.

Military personnel who require security clearances go through a more extensive background check. Note that Jared Kushner flunked his security clearance. While more can be done to eliminate extremism, how do you tell the difference between someone who participated in a Trump rally and someone who meets with white nationalists at Friday night poker games? Same for someone who participates in a peaceful BLM protest and someone who joined just to loot?

We have the tech to make every enlistee pass a polygraph and more thorough background check but that is cost prohibitive. The best way is training and enforcement. The military is not going to boot someone for their thoughts but it will certainly boot them out for their actions.

They didn't call them Grunts for no reason.

In a really bad situation the best place for you is in the middle of them. :)

Many moons ago I was temporarily assigned with the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force as an observer for an exercise on the north end of Honshu. I was riding in the back of a Huey freezing my ass off because it was the dead of winter when I noticed that each pilot had a combat helmet and an M-16 under his seat. I asked them what those were for. The answer was that if they were shot down they'd join the ground forces. "Wow" I thought. Up to that point I'd always thought that if I went down with a load of grunts I'd surround myself with them and head back to the airfield. :)

Unlike the JGSDF with their standard issue M-16, all we were issued was a .45 (a .38 in the Navy). Anyone who read the book or saw the movie "The Bridges of Toko-Ri" knows why that's not very good.

While there was a traditional rivalry between the services and, in the Marine Corps, between the aviation side ("airdales") and the ground side ("grunts"), I'd do anything for them.
