Stone (not a Leftist) starts off by saying today was the first shot across the bow of the ship of state, while making some small conciliation about violence being bad. Characterassassin, who I take to be a Progressive Leftist, comes back with a vulgar insult. In that microcosm of exchange, is everything wrong with politics in America.
The Left having won power will now try to consolidate it and run roughshod over everyone else. There's no debating or compromise with the Left for the rest of the political spectrum. Never has been, and it won't be now.
I fully expect the Democrats in Congress, with Biden in agreement once the change of administration occurs, to push legislation through to clamp down on basic Rights and freedoms in the name of "democracy" or "justice" claiming those new restrictions are necessary to prevent a reoccurrence of such a protest. Never mind, these are the same people that for months told us that looting, arson, rioting, creating "free states," and the like were all "mostly peaceful protests" and that they were "justified."
The problem here is exactly what we see in those two posts. The non-Left brings up a point and the Left doesn't listen to the message. They don't want deliberation or debate. Instead, all they see is their political power threatened and someone disagreeing with them. Doesn't matter a wit to them how justified the disagreement is. It is enough that someone disagrees.
Their response isn't debate, it's vitriol, hate, and if necessary violence. It's a modern day version of

What you will see in the coming year is the same sort of pseudo-science posing as fact (Gorebal Warming, Chinese virus, etc.), demands for "free" stuff that isn't free, and the equivalent of Gulag for anyone who opposes, or even questions the Left's actions. There won't be a rational debate on the national stage any more than there'll be one here. The Left wants what it wants and its Gulag for everyone else.

Rioters at the U.S. Capitol knocked over barriers and went after members of the media on the Capitol grounds Wednesday.
In a video posted on Twitter by Bloomberg's William Turton, the pro-Donald Trump crowd is seen brazenly approaching members of the media and knocking over their cameras and tripods. Various voices are heard yelling “get the f--- outta here” as the press corps begins retreating.
