Liberal "darling" Chavez

Chavez is a socialist, not a liberal. He's not even a liberal leaning socialist. If you disagree, tell me where he proposes gay marriage, abortion, and legal pot for Venezuelans, and stops the nonsensical price controls.

She said "liberal darling" not "the liberal Chavez". There is a large difference between the two.
 
I just love Chavez threads. :)

What Chavez is .. is the duly elected leader of Venezuela who has become a leader throughout all Latin America because of the qulaity of life improvements he's brought to the Venezuelan people through socialism .. instead of lining his own pockets .. as did Castro.

But Liberals like price controls, look at California where they imposed them on electricity and which helped lead to blackouts:

Then they tried to blame it on deregulation, even though many other states deregulated and none had the problems that Cali did.


You are trying to cast what Liberals are really like in your image. They don't agree with you on price controls, free trade or just about anything that involves less government in the economy.

Hilarious. Enron's energy traders admitted that they manipulated the energy markets in California prompting blackouts so that they could make lots of money. Your head is so far up your ass it's coming out of your mouth.

The system was f*cked by the capping of the retail energy prices while providers had to purchase on the open market. This is not supporting or justifying Enron's behavior but they should have never had the opportunity to pull off what they did. California put a f*cked up program in place.

Hilarious, and how does limiting your supply of some product drive up a price when there is price controls in place that stop it from being driven up?
Power generators in that article admitted withholding electrical generation because of the price caps.

Enron operated in MANY states. Electricity deregulation has been done in about half the states.
ONLY Caifornia imposed price caps, ONLY California had blackout problems.


What is your point? Are you arguing in favor of price caps like SOCIALIST Hugo Chavez?
Limiting deregulation as leftwing Liberal Democrats want is something that greatly appeals to large corporate monopolies because it means less competition for them from others who can lower prices. Deregulation WITHOUT government interference has resulted in lower prices.

California's semi-deregulation was moronic. They should've either deregulated or kept it regulated.
 
Chavez is just another third world dictator ruling by iron fist. He's not smart enough to get his people runnng water even with all that oil. He's almost as good a leader as akmhedinijahd.

He's not a dictator. Ahmhenijahd isn't either. I'm kind of a confused as to why conservatives hate the democratically elected president of Iran more than the unelected Supreme Leader, who has all the power and could properly be called the dictator.

Add to Chavez being an elected leader, not a dictator, he'a a wildly popular elected leader who is also widly popular and influential throught Latin America .. BECAUSE he has delievered for his people and improved their quality of life exponentially during his terms in office.

The right will look for any and every failure and excuse to declare him a failure.
