Obama Using Code Words to Communicate With Black Community?

Hey BAC, I was hanging out with an ex co-worker yesterday watching basketball. He's an ivy league educated black guy who's a Democrat and Obama supporter. He was telling me that like W. and his code language to the religious right Obama has been doing the same with the black community essentially saying I've got to fix this national economy but I'll take care of y'all during my second term.

Have you picked up on this at all or heard anyone you know talk about this? I just thought it was an interesting insight or theory.

second term, have you checked out the stimulus package or cap and trade. I bet welfare has never been as high as it's going to be.

Hey BAC, not sure if you got a chance to read this or not but if you didn't I was curious if this was something you've heard mentioned?

Edit: And I'm not asking this in some conspiracy minded manner or trying to use it to make some point about Obama. The comment was made by a guy I respect a lot and sort of view as a mentor that's why it intrigued me.

Good question brother and I believe your intent in asking is pure. I respect your thoughts.

What your friend is doing is deluding himself about Obama as many within the black community are doing these days.

When they look at Obama they don't see many African-Americans around him .. except his wife and his kids. They rarely hear any concern about issues relevant and specific to the black community. Many don't agree with his bailouts, economic policies, or agenda. But they aren't willing to take a stand against him .. yet.

So many invent a reality that does not exist. They convince themselves that he's talking in code to them specifically and at some point he'll get around to them.

Those of us who warned them that Obama was not who they thought he was often ask them what are these magical words they're hearing .. no answer.

Perhaps you can ask your friend for me .. what is it that he thinks he's hearing.

You know I must admit when he told me this you and some of the comments you have made on this board popped into my head (regarding Obama and the black community). However we were at a bar drinking watching the NCAA Tournament so I didn't think it the appropriate time to get into a real political conversation. However next time I see him I'll ask him about it further.

I'd really appreciate hearing his answer.
