It is not going to undo the fear. The fear in this country was caused when airliners slammed into tall buildings. Not when people started calling the perpetrators "terrorists".

The word "terrorist" was in use long before George W. took office.

Yes, there is a huge difference between Shakespeare and Rand. But they are writers of Literature.

This is not about "style". This is about thinking an international situation changes because our language changes. That is nonsense.

If I stop calling them rattlesnakes and start calling them "legless snugglebunnies", it doesn't make them less dangerous. Nor does calling them rattlesnakes make them attack.

Who cares? Really. Who gives a shit? I mean, I think it's stupid, but who cares.

My sense is that Homeland Security wants to get away from being regarded as just the entity responsible for dealing with terrorism issues since the Department is much much bigger than that and responding to terror attacks is such a minor part of what they do.

It's the stupidity of the whole idea! I mean wtf? They are "terrorists" who commit acts of "terror" are they not? I don't know that the use of the term "man caused disasters" is all that widespread. In fact, I'm not certain anyone other than her uses it.

The word terrorist is overused these days anyway. I've heard people trying to label Somalia pirates terrorists, which is where things get ridiculous. It seems that if you aren't working for a government and you're not white then you're automatically a terrorist.
