My best advice is to live life without regret. Do what you want to do when you want to do it as a starting point. Now figure out how you are going to do it. Be smart about it. Have a plan, consult others for advice. Whatever happens, if you are honest with yourself, you'll find a measure of success. There's a difference between being the best in one's field and being the richest in one's field. It's nice to have both, but I prefer being the best..with a little money to tide me over. ;)

So Lawyers & Bussiness men are smart but not Artists?

Lawyers are extremely knowledgeable.

Business men are quite knowledgeable.

Both don't necessarily count as intelligence in the sense of logic, ability, creativity etc.

Although some level of organization is needed for those careers.

That's intelligence.

But, Artists typically have high Spatial IQs.

Creativity & perception ability all count as intelligence.

I have a very high spatial IQ.

As for accountants they are very good with mathematical calculations.

That's intelligence too.

Not sure about genes for talents like artistic ability.

But. All the time we find more genes. Just in the last several years it was discovered that there were genes for educational attainment.

Can't speak for everybody, but the Artistic talent in my Polish family skips around to those with Myopia.

People with Myopia do have higher IQ scores on average.

Poland definitely respects intellectuals more than the USA.

Poland has some places named after Polish intellectuals like Nicholas Copernicus University in Torun, Chopin International Airport in Warsaw, or Adam Mickiewiz University in Poznan.

In the USA they name things after the powerful & dimwitted.

Western Europeans are a lot different than Eastern Europeans.

Americans especially are very power, greed & war crazed.

Sorry, Witold, but you're getting into a text wall and I try not to do those.

The bottom line is that individual human beings are composed of a lot of different things; genes, culture and education, which often translates into money but not always so. There's also a matter of "will to do".

I've never figured out why some are better than others at accomplishing their goals. Some people are faster at completing goals, for some it comes easier, but the "will to do" is a necessary requirement no matter how difficult or easy it may be for a person. What drives some people more than others has always eluded me.


Who would you rather trust with your life: the most intelligent, best educated person in the room but who is unreliable and known to be cowardly or someone who was average in many respects but was 100% dependable to have your back?

They have been after them since, constantly saying they were terrible and needed greedy capitalists to create a better system. Every election half a century ago, candidates talked about how important teachers were and how they should be better paid. Then the Repubs started attacking teachers and unions. They have done it non-stop since then. They have achieved what they wanted.

50 years ago the schools were 80% White, now schools are 50% White.

Besides, the USA was a lot richer in 1950 compared to other regions.

Much of Western Europe & Japan were still recovering from WW2.

You might be guilty of categorizing artists as “right-brained” thinkers who lean on that particular hemisphere of the brain for creativity. But a new study published last month claims overall brain “structure” is a better distinguishing factor between artists and their non-artist counterparts.

“Drawing on the right side of the brain: A voxel-based morphometry analysis of observational drawing” asserts that artists may have increased neural matter in the parts of their brains that deal with visual perception, spatial navigation and fine motor skills. The increased amounts of grey and white matter occur on both sides of the brain, a fact that could help put to rest the idea of a right/left brain distinction being linked to creativity.

The rather small study, published in NeuroImage, is based on the brain scans and drawing performances of 21 art students (graduates and undergraduates attending art and design courses in London at Camberwell College of Art and The Royal College of Art) and 23 non-artists. The scan findings also showed that those who identified as artists — as well as those who performed better on the drawing tests — tended to have more grey matter in the parietal lobe, a region involved with spatial orientation and cognition.

“The people who are better at drawing really seem to have more developed structures in regions of the brain that control for fine motor performance and what we call procedural memory,” Rebecca Chamberlain, the study’s lead author from KU Leuven University in Belgium, explained to BBC.
