The great thing about a garden variety CC class is the variety of people. 18 year olds and 60 year olds. People planning to transfer to university and people who are just curious life long learners.

In academic subjects, community colleges generally expect to hire people with masters degrees or doctorates, that is common knowledge which does not require proof. I am not familiar with the CC vocational programs, but I doubt the auto mechanic training programs require instructors with doctorates.

Dr. Biden not only teaches at a CC, she previously taught HS for 13 years and at an institute for emotionally-disturbed kids for five years. She's not just another pretty face, she's devoted her life to helping people. This is nothing to sneer at.

I did my first two years of college at a cc and had an economics prof who had a PhD and was retired from Auburn University.

I am going to have to assume you have never taken a college level class if you believe it is normal or routine for community colleges to hire instructors with bachelor's degrees to teach physics, chemistry and English.
It is certainly possible someone with a bachelor's in physics could land a gig as an instructor in a CC physics department, but it would be the exception not the rule. Every science instructor I know at community colleges have at least a Master's and some have PhDs

Actually Cypress all you need is a Bachelors degree to teach non-transferrable classes at a community college. To teach transferable classes, most community colleges require a minimum of a Master’s degree and 18 hours at graduate level in the subject being taught. Nothing there requiring a Doctorates. Sorry to have to correct you again on your supposed vast knowledge. That is what happens when someone actually goes to college. They know these things. Anything else I can correct you on?
Very true. Our CC really emphasizes life-long learning in their advertising. Another plus is that people can get in a couple of years before transferring to a regular university, and the cost is much lower.

Looking further I found Sharpton was awarded honorary doctorates by several schools. However I haven't seen that he himself uses the title of doctor, just Reverend. FYI, trump also was awarded honorary doctorates from five schools although one was rescinded after his Muslim ban. Be sure to criticize him like you criticized Sharpton.
