Health industry likes Obama's plan

Funny - you wouldn't expect them to like the gov't "running" their business:

You can say that it's just the obvious - covering more people gives them more customers. However, there is much more to it than that, including a modest approach on prescription drugs that could save companies billions, and a clearly open process that has sought input from everyone involved, in direct contrast to the closed door health plan of the early '90's.

Many Drs would like to actually do the work they trained so hard for instead of refusing care to people all day long.

Modest approach on prescription drugs? Like denial of life extending drugs to terminal patients?

more customers means more guaranteed payment by the gov, whats not to like about that?

Probably quite a few of the Drs like we just dealt with over the last few days.

Let me tell you of the wonders of modern medicine.

My wife is battling her 3rd case of bronchitus since October 2008. She was hospitalized in December for it. And the breathing treatments and medications seemed to help. She was much better after a week.

This time around she has had a very hard time shaking it. Tuesday she went to our family Dr, and her O2 level was low and her blood pressure was high. They put her in the hospital.

Our brilliant, highly trained medical doctor immediately ordered a full set of blood work, and IV drip of antibiotics, breathing treatments, and a CT scan with contrast (to look for a mass in her lungs).

Of course, while they were starting to hang the IV we discovered that he had ordered Cipro. Her chart lists her allergies, and that is at the top of the list. Had they started that drip she would have gone into anaphylactic shock.

So we got that straightened out, they took lots of blood, did the breathing treatments, and did the CT scan. (no mass thankfully)

Well today the Dr said he could not figure out what was wrong, so he was sending her home. The nurse argued, the resp. therapist argued and my wife went ballistic. But she was discharged.

So on tuesday she was sick enough to be admitted to the hospital. But a mere 2 days later, with no change in her condition, she was discharged.

And we have full medical insurance from a major provider.

I am sooo thankful we have the best medical care that money can buy.

Now if my wife could just breath properly, she would say the same thing.

I don't see your point as it pertains to nationalized health care.

I was making the point that many of the Drs that want nationalized health care are like the one we dealt with.

...

That's retarded. I'm sure many of the doctors who don't want nationalized health care are like the ones you dealt with. Did you happen to ask this guy his political opinions or something?

What has led to the inflation in med care/college tuition? Both are outside the norms. Medicare and federal payments to colleges. The golden calves.

Now there is the possibility of much, much more. What's not to salivate over?

No, I didn't want him to strain anything. He had already given up on a diagnosis for my wife.

In a nationalized health care system, there are almost always more protections for the Drs. In Canada you sign more releases than admission forms.

I am disgusted with the medical system. And unless you can point out something that the government took over that didn't get worse, or even point out something that the government does reasonably well (besides the military), I cannot see it improving with government control.

Before you run away....

Anyone can go to any ER , in any city, in any state, in any county, and be treated .... to refuse "necessary" treatment is against the law.....as far as I know...please let me know if I'm mistaken

... for the last time, the government isn't "taking over" healthcare. If anything, they're taking over health insurance. So the entire premise of your argument is wrong.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You sure you're not related to Dixie?

So how will Obama's differ from socialized medicine in Canada...???

I got this one. government employee pay raises. they got that one handled real well.

you want to see Obama's rating go into Bush territory.
He's talking about removing the tax deductibility from employees medical premiums paid by the company.
That's million of middle class getting butt raped. He'll be way below 50% within 3 months of doing that.

When McCain suggested that employee's health benefits be taxed, he was ridiculed by the left. Now they tout it as a good idea?

It sucked when McCain suggested it and it still sucks.
