Chart of the Day

wages up from 14% to 49%

Dividends 40% to 7%

Entreprenuer 31% to 36%

Iterest 10 to 6%

Rental prop 5% to 3%

There is a real reason I concentrated on the wage and dividend numbers

Really? What is that reason desh? Because I dont think you have thought it through at all. You simply want to project some ominous reason onto the change.

Did you ever stop to think that the reason the wealthy didn't have as much wage income back then is because the bulk of the wealthy was old money families that really didn't WORK??? Or that they paid themselves in dividends from family run companies?

You never stop to think about things like that Desh, you just assume the worst and pretend that must be what it is.

What is the worst you are pretending I am claiming?

I stated that the dividends have greatly decreased and to make up for it the Uber wealthy have used corporate bonuses to mantain their extreme lifestyles.

How is that different from what you are saying?

LMAO....

'Extreme lifestyles'?????

You pretend that the wealthy somehow had their dividends reduced and thus created elaborate pay packages to compensate. You completely ignored what I stated earlier.

It is a different time desh.... how much of your husbands total income comes from his wages/bonus/retirement plan???? I bet it is over 50%.

Pretending that there is a nefarious reason for the shift from dividend income to wage income is what I am referring to when I say you are assuming the worst.

You completely ignored my point earlier on this..... you do realize that many of the old money families used to live off of dividend income from their family businesses... dont you? That many of them didn't have wages because they didnt actually WORK?

that's comical, Desh do you know anybody, just one person who had 40% of their income in Dividends or that gets huge corp bonuses.
SF arguin with a GED over things like this will give you an ulser. Her assumptions are ged at best.

Then why dont you just answer the question?

Why would they lose so much dividend income?

Are you people saying that they willingly moved into postitions to run the corps when they could have made the majority of their income through dividends?

1) They did not necessarily LOSE dividend income Desh.... You are assuming that the bulk of the wealthy are the same type of individuals that were a part of the 'wealthy' back in the early 1900's. This is a piss poor assumption.

2) There are many reasons that the percentages could have changed Desh. The new 'wealth' may be working more on average than they used to. The new 'wealth' may prefer capital gains to dividends. The pensions/401ks/option pay that exist today did not exist back then (at least not to the same extent as today). You do not have as many family run businesses today that you did back then.

Here's a chart of the top income tax rate in the U.S. dating back to 1920 including Obama's proposed increase in the tax rate. See that creeping socialism at the end of the chart there?

It's war on entrepreneurs! Soak the rich! Socialism!

The most important point to take out of this chart is that this is not the same America as before, the world is globalized and more cosmopolitan, if you tax someone too much they can very easily move money out or themselves as patriotic nationalism is on the wane.
It also discourages foreign investment. Really you have no choice but to be more competitive.

Your stated concerns are inapposite. These are income taxes were talking about here.

Uh-huh and? It's a global economy, people can live and earn income in more places than ever.

As one example, my side business is with a partner running a website, I could run it anywhere.

Look. There are very specific rules governing when a United States citizen that earns income does not have to pay income taxes on that income. it's not a simple process.

Corporations can more easily avoid paying taxes. Individuals not so much.

Where did I say those things?

I was noticing that we gave the corporate world a very low tax rate and how did they repay us?

Other than providing jobs for millions of americans, i guess not much desh.

Corporations don't owe you a fucking thing. they are a business, not a charity. Their goal is to MAKE MONEY.

Haha... reminds me of the old addage of those who love jobs but hate employers.

They dont owe this country anything?

Then they only exsist to make money which means they will distroy our economy to make money, they will enslave people to make money, they will kill Americans to make money, they will distroy our infrastructure to make money.

They will do ANYTHING to make money.

Then when they have done so and have consolidated to the extent that they are sooo intragle to the world economy that if they fail everyone is fucked for years (like AIG) so instead of just letting them fail we have to bail them out what does that mean they owe us?

If they are tooo big to fail then they are tooooo fucking big to be allowed to exsist for our own protection.

If Corps have NO responsiblity to us then we have a right to tame the fuckers for our own protection.

Its time for more monopoly laws.

Even Monopoly has rules and ONE person still always wins in the end huh?

When they win the game is over huh?

Unfettered capitolism has won the game and lost the war.

Sound and far reaching Regulations is the ONLY thing to keep this from happening again.

America is really having that set into their perminant memories now just like it happened in the Great Depression.
