The fact that Russia joined Europe and the USA in signing the Obama/Kerry nuclear agreement with Iran indicates to me that the agreement was not a toothless, ineffective piece of window dressing.
Russia has more to lose from a war-mongering, nuclear armed Iran than USA does. Muslims for the next two centuries are not going to forget what the Kremlin did to Muslims in Afghanistan, in Chechnya, in the central Asian republics. The Kremlin has zero interest in a nuclear armed and belligerent Iran on it's border.
