Americans Reclaim the Flag

Doesn't matter sport both are 0-1s. I wasn't a Tech Sgt. when I retired thus I am returning your intended slur.

Are you really so pissed off and dishonest you don't know the difference between an Ensign and a Second Lieutenant? If you had posted "O-1" you would have been correct since I used to be one, but since I was never an Ensign, you were wrong. Now you are proving yourself to be too spineless to admit you were wrong. Why?

Were you a Tech Sgt once just as I was once a Second Lieutenant? Is it an insult to call an Air Force NCO "Tech Sergeant" or a Marine NCO "Gunny"? Are you saying I should be such an insecure little pussy that I should be insulted if you called me a Butter Bar? 1stLT? Lieutenant Commander?

The Right glorifies the Confederate battle standard, the battlefield symbol of an army that took up arms and killed hundreds of thousands of American soldiers who were serving under the flag of the United States.

Nope. In fact very few on the right do. I sure dont. I could care less about that flag. No opinion on it good or bad,...just dont care.

Explain to me how the military got so invested in the flag. Were thry not paying attention when they were sworn in? I,

(state name of enlistee), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and of the State of (applicable state) against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to them; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the Governor of (applicable state) and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to law and regulations. (So help me God)."

Hey shit for brains that is the oath for the National Guard not the active US military.
Oath of Enlistment
I, (state your name), do solemnly swear (or affirm)
that I will support and defend the Constitution of
the United States against all enemies, foreign and
domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance
to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the
President of the United States and the orders of
the officers appointed over me, according to
regulations and the Uniform Code of Military
Justice. So help me God. (optional)

The flag represents the nation and constitution if you weren't so fucking stupid you would understand that.

The flag is a symbol for an idea. Flags, and even armies, can be destroyed but the idea cannot be destroyed until the last person thinking it is dead.

Count me among those who don't like seeing the flag of the United States treated disrespectfully just like I didn't like seeing Nazis march in Skokie, IL or Nazis chanting Trump's name in Charlottesville. OTOH, in order for my country to truly support the Constitution and what it stands for, then I need to desist from stopping them from protesting lawfully. Same goes for BLM, Antifa or anyone else. Follow the law, don't hurt anyone.

If they want to burn a flag in a lawful manner, fine. If they want to come onto my property and burn my flag then I will shoot them dead for attempted murder and arson. That is where the line is drawn.

It has historical value. Classroom material. Museum displays, thousands of Civil War books.

The past has passed.

It appears that the Union is near to being ruptured again.

Good catch on the National Guard oath. Do you still abide by your oath? I do.

My oath (note the lack of "President")

I, A.B., do solemnly swear (or
affirm) that I will support and defend the
Constitution of the United States against all
enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will
bear true faith and allegiance to the same;
that I take this obligation freely, without any
mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and
that I will well and faithfully discharge
the duties of the office on which I am about
to enter. So help me God.

I am no fan of flag burning but I am not so arrogant as to think I have a right to tell others how to demonstrate. I think the issues that caused the demonstration should take precedence.

how is this materially different?

I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

Indeed.

It appears that piece of mierda was a weekend warrior...lol

If even a weekend warrior...lol

Well, Katzguts, this is materially different.

“ I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Within the limits of the law, I agree. That said, I don't like bullshit laws designed to deliberately stop any protests meaning charging exorbitant permit fees, restricting all protests to take place outside of city limits, etc. Limiting protests to a public park or unable to block main thoroughfares is fine with me.

She probably never served or had any close relatives who served.
Well, Katzguts, this is materially different.

That's part of the Enlisted oath, not the Officer oath. https://www.army.mil/values/oath.html

The swearing of oaths comes from evil. A simple yes or no is all that is required when asked to do something. To find out the reason why each individual should research the subject Biblically.

Actually no it isn't materially different the point is people are swearing allegiance to the Constitution not the flag

Your politics sure doesn't show you were a Marine. The Marines I know are conservative to a tee, but I am sure there are lefties in the Corps. But to answer your stupid question O-1s in the AF, Army, and Marines are called Second Lt's. The Navy and Coast Guard (not part of DOD) are called Ensign's. You claim to be retired Navy so I referred to the correct title of rank for the Navy. It was an insult like you gave me. Thus if you want to play asshole and swap insults about ones service, I'll treat you like an asshole.
