Drive the process

I'd much rather be counted among the "drive the process" crowd than to be among the "let it happen", "I'm a victim and I can't get up" crowd anyday.

I believe in participatory government .. something that is strange and unknown to most Americans.

The drive the process crowd are usually more of a hindrance to actually getting things accomplished. They are convinced of their own superiority, yet usually are only good at fronting hard.

Yeah a point, the drive the process crowd did not do us much good on the subprimes and finiancial situation now did they?

You can count almost all accomplished people among those who drive the process. True accomplishment does not occur in a vacuum and it doesn't happen "just because", my good brother.

You can count almost all leaders, good and bad, among those who drive the process. George Bush was not a leader, Dick Cheney was .. and he drove the process.

Martin Luther King drove the process, as did Malcolm X, as did Robert Kennedy.

It's strange that post this now because I just told a group of journalism students from Spelman and Clark that they must drive the process in the issues they become involved in. I told them of their responsibility to drive the process.

It's the same message I preach to every audience I get a chance to preach to .. and my brother, contrary to your distaste for it, obviously a lot of people like that message because they keep asking me to preach it. My plate is full.

The message is simple, there is a difference between being a citizen and a subject. The Declaration of Independence DECLARES that citizens drive the political process, not be driven by politicians.

Your life determines that you drive the process, not be driven by environment, fear, or need for approval.

.. just my take brother.

Most people who actually drive the process are too busy doing to be running around telling other people to "drive the process". People who say "Drive the process" are not necessarily the same people who actually drive.

They may not have done much for you, but that was never their objective. Their objective was to do well for themselves at the expense of other people .. and let's see the hands of those who don't believe mission accomplished beyond their wildest expectations .. in fact, for many of them, we're still giving them trillions of dollars ... AND .. here's the punch line .. some of them, like Summers and Geithner, are now being relied on the get us out of this mess while they give away untold amounts of taxpayer money to people who "drove the process"

:cof1:

No wait ..that ain't the funniest part .. get this .. YOU VOTED FOR THEM. :) They're in the Obama Administration.

I'm laughin' my ass off here.

Not exactly. They moslty sit around and admire themselves, while belittling the contributions of others.

Driving the process does not necessarily mean playing every role.

Driving the process is understanding your role and doing it.

Again, doing it doesn't usually mean running around telling others to 'drive the process'. You are either too busy doing, or you aren't participating in "your role". If your role is to run around talking like a motivational poster, you are one step removed from the actual process and need to start looking for employment.

I seriously disagree.

Dr. King's role was to "run around" and preach driving the process. He could not make any legislative changes at all, but he could inspire the process with is role.

Every issue needs a spokesperson whose role will be doing nothing but preaching the process, and if that do it well, they won't have time to do the actual legwork required.

Dr. King didn't run around and tell people to drive the process, he gave direction and drove, he acted. He was not one step removed from the process.

If your role is solely to tell other people to be Dr. King. Then your role is worthless. Be Dr. King and drive, instead of a back seat driver.

There does need to be some vision. It need not have a strong dynamic leader though. Though that helps and is a quick and effective way, years of slow indocrination through coordinated propaganda can acheeive the same effect, its more subconscious and complete.
