It is said that no loss is greater than that of a parent who loses a child. It's not supposed to be that way.

I know it really affected my own parents greatly both times it happened in my family. The first sibling went to cancer, the second was a head-on auto wreck.

It has been a long time. I have learned to live with it, even enjoy life again.

I can't know your pain, but can only imagine how difficult it must be.

I'm glad you are here and able to share. The good people in here keep me coming back, provide a continuity. You are part of that. Thank you.

Especially in these times of distancing, this forum has taken on more importance in helping to provide social interactions, continuity, and a reliable daily routine.

This forum does not have to be a mean and nasty experience. It is to each of us what we make it. I enjoy civil discourse and mutual respect.

Again, I completely agree with you. I think one reason the forum seems a better place now is because many of the absolute worst right wing posters who usually post here have run away from Trumps lose.. That being said, I find that dialogue with Trump supporters who are still here to be far more palatable.

Unfortunately this is not a good day for me, after a really bad night. I’m starting to worry about spending too much time alone where I spend a lot of time blaming myself. I failed to convince my son not to join the police department and my failure cost him his life. I also failed to convince my daughter not to join the army, and although she has done well in the army, rising to Master Sgt, that puts her right in the line of fire and and a attack on Iran seems on the horizon.

Perhaps the only honorable thing to do is to join my son. The pain and remorse is becoming overwhelming. Thanks for listening to me.

you can't blme yourself for an inmate, or the security that allowed it.
Your son and daughter are HONORABLE people -a real credit to the country as well.

You can't make decisions for your children either -they are grown adults.

You have to get to a perspective none of this -especially your son's murder-
was anyone's fault except any circumstances he was in and a depraved inmate.

I dont expect you to stop the self -blame, but you need to see the truth and you will eventually
find peace by knowing and accepting the truth..my best karma wishes for you and all your family

I am Richard’s [blackascoal] wife. I’ve never been on this forum before so I hope that I’m posting this right. I’m worried about him so while he’s asleep I picked up his tablet to see what he was typing. I thank you so much for your words of encouragement to him. Right now he needs it. He told me that no one uses their real names on political message boards, but I’m not as political as he is. My name is Gwen and regardless of your politics I can’t thank you and others enough for your kind words. He needs help to get over the loss of Bryant and I’m going to get him that help today. I wish I could invite you all over for dinner, but in this time of virus infection that probably would not be a good idea. Well it will matter if we kill people in the process. I'm pretty sure that he is willing to sacrifice as many human lives as needed to either attempt to stay in power, or an attempt to screw up our foreign policy. He's already killed thousands of Americans. What I don't understand is how anyone is stupid enough to continue to support this man. He is a horror of a human being.

Agreed. Cult behavior isn't party specific. Trump's cult is like Hillary's cult on Adderall and Steroids....a lot of Adderall and Steroids.

The basis of most animal behaviors is fear; it's a fundamental survival response which is often followed by a fight or flight response. Cultists are mostly flight; fleeing to the safety of someone they believe can save them. A messiah figure.
