:( Sorry to hear that, I've always been the sole bread winner so it's not the end of the world, cheer up.
Did you notice the market did not react well to Obama and Dems big spending plans?

Translation, women are not supposed to work anyway.

Jarod, sorry to hear about you wifes job loss.

How about women are free to choose?

And do you really think you should open your mouth on that, didn't you divorce her because you thought she did nothing and just spent YOUR money?

We will all survive this thing.

We can all downsize and may even realize its not so bad.

I'm sorry your wife got laidoff and I hope things go well with your family.

I am not interested in the short term reaction, only the long term reaction. Have you noticed that the market did not react well to Bush's presidency?

HUH? Boy I hit a nerve there :clink:

I divorced her for several reasons. One was that she was a degreed professional but would not work, but spent like a republican. Spending all we had was not enough, she had to pay for vacations for her family on credit cards and such. One cannot cut off their spouse from their credit it seems, She just kept signing up for more cards about as fast as I could cancel them.
so divorce of live in eternal debt with a crazy woman the rest of my life. Or prison for shooting her.

Divorce was much nicer.

I can't help it if you spend foolishly. I do note that you are much better off than most.

I would not call it foolishly. Just saying I am not rich, depending on what you mean by rich.

We pay our nanny well, thats our biggest expense. Then we rent a home for $2000 a month, thats our second largest expense.

I pay down on student loans, but as little as possable because the interest rate is 3.75.

We have some cash saved for this exact situation, about $75,000, so we will be okay.

I drive an 8 year old car, and my wife drives an older minivan with 75,000 miles on it. We are not extravagant, I dont have a Rolex or drive a Porscha. We dont have a pool, or a country club membership.

Well maybe you guys should rent a cheaper house too?

With 75,000 you can use some of that as a down on a house and buy while she stays home. I know some women hate being home but it is very rewarding to be with your own children and enjoy their youth fIrst hand for a couple of years.
