Judd Gregg drops out of consideration for Commerce

Now Gregg is saying the Obambi Administration appraoched him for the post .. but Obambi is saying it was the other way around.

Gregg has been a leading proponent of under-sounting blacks and latinos in the census .. so to hedge their bet, the Obambi Administration wanted to remove the census from Gregg's authority had he taken the post. But republicans are saying that if Obambi didn't trust him with the census, why appoint him .. which I wholeheartedly agree with.

Gregg would have also been overseer of affirmative action programs that have Commerce over-sight .. even though he doesn't agree with affirmative action .. so why in the fuck would Obambi, the so-called black president, appoint someone like Gregg?

Another embarrassment for this ridiculous "bipartisan" administration.

He has not been a "proponent of under counting blacks and latinos". He has been a proponent of counting only US citizens. As to his positions on affirmative action? He was being a fiscally conservative opponent against "federal funds" being used for special sub-groups, not against affirmative action itself.

The power grab of the white house to take over the census is more than just disturbing, its obsene. That liberal democrats are giving this power grab nothing more than a shoulder shrug highlights their hypocrisy.

It would seem to be a pretty odd view to hold, because the census is constitutionally bound to count every person within American borders, whether or not they're citizens. I don't necessarily agree with that, but if he tried to not count illegals he would get shut down by the supreme court. He would know this and I seriously doubt he was trying to exclude illegals from the census because it would be a pointless act.

I do too. I hope he goes so far left that it absolutely galvanizes the right and the right leaning centrists and we don't see a dem pres or dem majority for another 20 years.

Judd Gregg is a hard-core right-wing conservative.

He has a 7% rating by the NAACP.

He voted YES on banning affirmative action hiring with federal funds.

He voted NO on prohibiting job discrimination by sexual orientation.

He voted NO on setting aside 10% of highway funds for minorities & women.

He voted YES on ending special funding for minority & women-owned business.

He voted YES on loosening restrictions on cell phone wiretapping.

He has a 20% rating by the ACLU and a 33% rating by the Human Rights Commission.

He voted NO on repealing tax subsidy for companies which move US jobs offshore.

He voted YES on rejecting racial statistics in death penalty appeals.

He hates public schools, has an putrid record on school funding, and has a 27% rating by the NEA.

He has a 17% rating on energy independence.

He has a 0% ratung by the AFL/CIO because of his anti-union stance .. something he would have to deal with as head of Commerce.

He has a 20% rating by the Association for Retired Americans.

And oh yeah, Gregg wanted to eliminate the Department of Commerce just a few short years ago.

This was a stupid pick to begin with. This guy is a wing nut, and they wanted to put him in charge of things like the census where minorities are historically undercounted. (the illegal immigrant thing is a right wing canard, spit out by the Limbaughs and dutifully carried through cyberspace by the diseased acolytes.) And how do you put a person who voted to eliminate a dept in charge of that dept? Pure insanity.

The other side of the coin is, as I have always said, you trust a righy, you get what you deserve. They're evil, they lie like others breath, and they shiv you every single time they can. Every single time.

I don't care about how left wing on the dole government funded orgs. rate Gregg. Their scorn is meaningless in the context of your accusation. He is not against counting blacks and latinos as you said, just against counting illegal ones. He is not against affirmative action, just against special funding, i.e. extra funds if you are ethnic or female and wanting to open a small business. His position is that there already exists grants and special funding for that category i.e. small business start-ups.

Broad brushing a mans career and policy positions is disengenuous.
