Hypocrites always shoot themselves in the foot regardless of religious or political polarity. Eagle_Eye's "Gold Rule" flip-flopping is a mild example.
All this type of conversation does is emphasize why the only part of politics where religion should be involved is maintaining freedom of choice of beliefs.

The discussion on Sodom and Gomorrah piqued my interest since, like Troy, I believe all ancient stories have a basis in fact....and there are few facts known about both. A consensus believes both cities were wiped out by flood after a dam broke south of the Dead Sea. Around the same era two cities north of the Dead Sea around the modern Syrian/Jordan border were wiped out by a volcano. By the time Moses wrote it up over 500 years later, the stories had been merged.
For context, the time between Sodom and Moses is the same amount of time as between us and Columbus getting lost in the West Indies.
The bible is a big book, not simple..
