Once again, WHERE is the tRump healthcare plan????....

Got news for you... Medicare sucks. Part A, B, C, D and anything else about it sucks.

Medicare sends you emails telling you what services are available to you. You are entitled to a yearly physical with no co-pays. Medicare saves money by practicing preventative medicine. Can you imagine that in America? They are trying to keep you healthy. They do not profit by making you take more procedures. They do better when you do not get worse and more expensive.

My other plan gave me a medical credit card they put money on for me filling out evaluations and doing medically related stuff. It gives yearly physicals with no co-pay too. You don't need referrals for everything. There's also a far larger choice of providers under it than Medicare--something the wife is finding out when Medicare sends her a notice that some provider doesn't take Medicare.

Aside from that, getting insurance out of paying for routine healthcare altogether should be the goal. I have noticed that this awful method is being spread to other industries now like auto repair plans and home "warranties." Those too will drive up the price of goods and services in those markets like they have in the medical profession.

Regardless of the debate on how healthcare show be handled, tRump simply lied and his minions refuse to hold him accountable. Hopefully, the non cult voters will.

Everyone needs referrals for specialists. I have never found trouble finding a new doctor. Mine died from Corona. I found new ones to pick from. It was no trouble. That does not mean everyone will though. But I do not know if it is a real problem.
Medicare does really preventative medicine. They are like the VA which also provides highly read care.
Note, your insurance company gives you a list of doctors you can choose from. They are picking your doctor. Do you think the price is a consideration? Are the approved ones the ones you would have picked?

The wife who sees a lot of specialists never needed referrals until she started using Medicare. They required them. It was a big annoyance for her as she wasn't used to having this extra layer of nonsense involved. The referral also got charged off, so it was more expensive for the insurers than before.

Preventative medicine is over rated, and the VA is very much hit and miss. There are some good facilities and there are really bad ones. The wait times can be anywhere from short to you're going to die before they get to you. Almost all veterans I know see the VA as the medical provider of last resort. I sure do. I wouldn't use them unless I had no other choice. And, I also know the Phoenix VA center is one of the worst in the nation. The Tucson center, by comparison, rates as very good.

I can use any doctor I want on my plan. If I use the ones they have a deal with the whole amount is paid. If I choose otherwise, I just have to make a deal that they'll accept the insurance amount, which they usually do otherwise I foot the difference out-of-pocket. The insurance still pays me the rate they would anyway.

Are you saying she could simply go to specialists without a referral? What country do you live in? https://www.verywellhealth.com/what-is-a-referral-health-insurance-1738605

Yep. He general practitioner would say something like "You need to see a skin specialist..." She'd find ones locally, set an appointment and go. No need to have the practitioner do anything else. Now it's the practitioner has to send notice to Medicare and the specialist of the referral. The practitioner bills for that. Yea, there's no co-pay but it still costs to get it done.
