Press Conference

Bush got no "honeymoon" either. I don't remember one with Clinton. But I may be wrong I was in the Navy and sometimes out of the loop then. Was there one with HW Bush? I can't imagine... :dunno:

What bush got was his ass kissed by the press from day one, however, you are correct there was no real honeymoon period with Bush, if you define it as high approval ratings. The American people usually rally around a president when he is first elected. The old give him a chance.

But bush pre9/11 did not enjoy that phase.

Could have something to do with him stealing the election and losing the popular vote, but that's just a crazy guess on my part.

I think Obama and Reid are trying to politically kill Pelosi. She's the only liberal out of the three, and they want her out so they can start they're Democrat-Republican coalition.

First of all, didn't the white house write most of this bill? Didn't Obama just say last night that "I" put the tax cuts in up front, and maybe "I" shouldn't have? But this bill mostly has what "I" wanted in it?

And right there it states that Pelosi was in negotiations with Reid.

They pinned this bill on her, as if she wrote it. I think it was Jane Hamsher and Digby who wrote a lot about this last week. That the white house (basically, emmanual) and Reid pinned the whole thing on Pelosi.

Actually, bac is right, the democrats had a lot to do with this too. The right has always jumped on any opportunity to paint Pelosi as the big scary mommy figure that right wingers are so frightened of.
No, the WH did not write "most of this bill". Nancy was the target because that is where it started. You seek for ghouls when sometimes a stone is a stone.

BTW - I accidentally linked to a story about a different stimulus package. Not on purpose, it was a mistake.

Nancy isn't even a sponsor of the bill.

Cool 'nuff. I see it more at going after the "leader" where the bill began. Whether she put her name on it or not. But if people want to see the "ghoul" and say it's because she is "wimmin" then so be it.

I think it has a lot to do with it. The right have always demonized not only Pelosi, but "San francisco values". Which is about gays, which is about their really confused and frightened gender issues.

LOL. Wow. From "She's bad because (witch) she's wimmins!" to "She's bad because she lives among gays."... All in two posts.

Seriously. Sometimes a bird is a bird and it poops on your car because you parked under the tree, not because it's some huge anti-gay agenda wielding maniac throwing bird poop in disguise as a bird.

The demonization of gays is very much steeped in gender Damo. You don't know that because you are a Republican!

The demonization of homosexuals is sometimes a real thing, I just disagree that this is an example of it. It's a stretch. Sometimes people get criticized without it being about some super secret anti-gay hidden agenda.

'San Francisco Values' is about being as liberal as a city can be. There are about 750K people here and not one elected Republican. Is there any other City in America around that size that has only elected Republicans?

That's what it means to you. It's a dog whistle to the religious right though.

I mean holy shit. Can you imagine Bush answering any of those questions intelligently? Good to have adults in charge again.

It might be. I'm pretty far removed from the religious right.

What???? There aren't a lot of Buddhists on the 'religious right'? Not a lot of Catholics either for some reason.

My liberal brethren, please do not mix conservatives and 'religious right', unless of course you wish to spin.

Stunning, isn't it?

Republicans...

Yeah, you're fucked.

:clink:

If I were still a Republican, I'd say... "Well, Hot Dog! I hope she was blond, 5'4', 98 lbs and had a nice hour glass figure. :cof1:

Sorry to all you ladies out there that don't think you match up to the Barbie figure, but I'm sure that I don't match up to the Ken figure either, so we can both live in misery.

Personally, I do NOT want to see what 'off the cliff' looks like relative to where we are now.

Amen to that brother.

He is in over his head, hell he had to take a vacation from it in just one month..
of course we didn't hear a peep about that from the libs or the media..it was, poor Obama, he is working so hard, this job is taking everything out of him...

Well, when did President Bush take his first vacation? Seems to me that the liberals were complaining that he was on vacation right after the election and that this was why he didn't know about 9/11 before it happened.

I can understand why a President would take a vacation shortly after the inauguration. Campaigning and planning for a new administration have got to take a lot out of a person.

By the way, before you say it, I did not vote for President Obama and although, I can not be called an Obama supporter, I support his office and pray the best for his administration. I think the stimulus package is big trouble, but I would love to be proven wrong on that.

You do understand the lowering taxes in the time of two wars is economic suicide dont you?

Fucking A cawacko it econ 101.

President Obama has asked for $2 Trillion dollars in less than a month. I don't suppose you feel that could be economic suicide as well?

Every partisan puts party over country .. including partisan democrats.

Obviously, you are clueless, there is no such thing as a partisan Democrat. :pke:

Immie

The claims that Bush was on vacation were usually a lot of bullshit.

When you have the resources at your disposal that the president does, you can do your job from wherever you are.

If you are still getting all the briefings, talking to the same people you normally would, and doing just as much at your ranch or at Camp David as you would at the White House, its hard to call that a vacation.

Exactly. How many true "vacation" days do Presidents really get? Like you said you may be away from the White House but you are not away from your work and there will always be people around you.
