I don't have an "own boy" so I am not sure who you are talking about, but if you are talking about "torture" shouldn't be done, I agree... we shouldn't shove bamboo shoots under anyone's fingernails... we shouldn't feed people into wood chippers or stretch them on racks... we shouldn't break bones or cut off limbs... I wholeheartedly agree, we shouldn't use torture to obtain intelligence information. The thing is, I disagree that waterboarding, playing loud music, turning the air conditioner up or down, is "torture" and there is a distinct difference, which I have articulated and you haven't been able to refute. Wait a second, you originally claim the administration gave false warnings based on known false information, but now you are saying it was "suspicious" in the timing... you didn't think I would notice you slithering away from your original idiotic statement? As for what I have said about intelligence gathered from Khalid Sheik Mohamed and Ali Mohamed, I gave you the source, the CIA! Sorry, I don't have a NY Times article to link you to on that! I guess you'll just have to take the CIA's word for it, or maybe try a Google search, I bet you can find something about it, because it is widely known information. Let's be clear, it's not my job to play your "cite" game, so you can divert the topic off into a debate over credibility of sources, etc. My source is the CIA. Period!

I never mocked Ridge for the color-coded terror alerts. In fact I seem to remember the color coded stuff did not even come from Ridge. He quit because the White House was telling him when and where to make reports based on political considerations, not evidence.

I encourage you to go read the Army Field Manual, specifically the directive regarding interrogation of detainees. This is the standard now in place for all US agencies, including the CIA, according to executive order issued by President Goofball. To basically summarize what it says... there can be no physical contact, no mental distress, no threats or hints of threat, no intimidation in any way shape or form. No disrespect, no insulting comments, no demeaning actions whatsoever. Detainees must be given full access to legal representation, can't be denied any personal belongings, and can only be isolated from their piers under the most unusual mitigating and dire circumstances. In essence, the ONLY tool remaining for effectively obtaining intelligence information, is the offering of gratuity, gifts, presents, better conditions, etc. (i.e.; Milk and Cookies)
You can THINK whatever you want to, that is what the Army Field Manual says, and what our intelligence agency is now mandated to follow. No one is making this shit up, or over-dramatizing it! This is what the rules are now!

In a breathless piece of reporting in the Sunday Los Angeles Times, we are told that Barack Obama “left intact” a “controversial counter-terrorism tool” called renditions. Moreover, the Times states, quoting unnamed “current and former U.S. intelligence figures,” Obama may actually be planning to expand the program. The report notes the existence of a European Parliament report condemning the practice, but states “the Obama Administration appears to have determined that the rendition program was one component of the Bush Administration’s war on terrorism that it could not afford to discard.”
The Los Angeles Times just got punked.
Horton --- who testified as an expert witness for the European Parliament report mentioned --- says the paper conflated the controversial Bush program, which often included torture and long-term abduction into secret CIA-run prisons in foreign countries, and a significantly less nefarious type of rendition, in use since the early 90's, and perhaps even during the Reagan era.
He explains the difference between the pre-Dubya "renditions program", which an Executive Order from Obama has not ended, versus Dubya's "extraordinary renditions program" which Obama has outlawed (despite media reports over the last several days to the contrary), thusly...
There are two fundamental distinctions between the programs. The extraordinary renditions program involved the operation of long-term detention facilities either by the CIA or by a cooperating host government together with the CIA, in which prisoners were held outside of the criminal justice system and otherwise unaccountable under law for extended periods of time. A central feature of this program was rendition to torture, namely that the prisoner was turned over to cooperating foreign governments with the full understanding that those governments would apply techniques that even the Bush Administration considers to be torture. This practice is a felony under current U.S. law, but was made a centerpiece of Bush counterterrorism policy.
