Any President of any party costs a small fortune when they go somewhere, anywhere. That's not something they can fully control. I might note that both Bush II and Reagan reduced the costs of their time away from the White House by regularly going to the same place (their ranches) which made it much cheaper for the Secret Service to provide already in place security. Obama made it more expensive by going here, there, and everywhere rather than just a few locations.
Trump usually seems to go to Mar a Lago in Florida. But I don't know fully how his travel costs compare to his predecessors.
