Trump was playing out of a tried and true playbook: people like/need assurance from their leaders. You go on about leadership, right? What would you have him say?

Omg, I almost died!!!!

This is much needed leadership out of our leaders. Not like they/we don’t get a belly full of gloom and doom from the media.

That’s a quick turnaround. He may not be out of the woods but the clearing is in plain sight and those ‘hoping for a bad outcome’ will very likely be disappointed.

Boris Johnson had a worse case than trump and he was honest about it but we know honesty isn't in the trump lexicon.

It doesn't have to be extremes. Conservatives said the same thing when Trump was caught on tape saying that he wanted to downplay COVID and not "cause a panic." Trump himself said that he wasn't going to jump up and down, and say that the world was ending.

It's a false choice. It's not a choice between downplaying and saying there is nothing to worry about, and panicking/going crazy.

Leaders level w/ people, and respect that people can handle the truth.

The truth is the vast majority of people have little to fear from COVID. Trump is an elderly overweight man and for him to say that—while he has it, should mean something.

He has no knowledge of it beyond what anyone else has. Many people get no symptoms at all. Are they suddenly "experts" who have authority to let everyone else know it's no big deal?

Trump is acting like a maniac over the past week+, starting w/ the debate & up to his bizarre balcony show and rejecting the stimulus. Not the kind of leader I want, personally.

All they need to do is send him a clean bill and he’ll sign it but Pelosi wants it loaded up with crap.

What’s bizarre is the hyperventilating over things that don’t matter. Trump takes his make off and the media gets the vapors. The debate turned into a joke where all anyone took from it was Trump telling the obscure Proud Boys to stand down/stand by—whatever the hell that means.
 
He beat it like only a real guy can. He looked that virus right in the eye and said, "get out snowflake", and the virus turned and ran. Yes, siree.
