Ducking the hard questions and leaning into the soft ones, Blagojevich told interviewers, including Diane Sawyer, Larry King and the women of ABC's "The View," that he is a do-gooder who has fallen victim to vindictive politicians in Springfield and Washington.

Again, something real.

Delay, not in office.
Bush, not in office (defended, true but also not indicted.)
Cheney, not in office and although indicted near the end of his office I never heard anybody defending against it, they mostly laughed at the person who indicted him in TX.
Rumsfeld, not indicted.
Gonzales, not indicted
Brown, not indicted.

So far your list is small and weak and full of exactly the silly conspiracy and unrealistic list of people. There is a reason Delay first stepped out of the race and it wasn't because Rs really loved him and were defending...

Again, list somebody that was in something like this, arrested by the feds etc. that the Rs have defended and you might have a point.

Otherwise an equally partisan list could be made starting with "Clinton" and it would be equally valid.

Hmm... I recall it was more of a mixed bag beforehand. Many saying he should resign, others saying that if he was convicted he should resign. Neither of which Stevens did. I certainly don't remember a great defense of Stephens on any forum that I saw or heard.

I do remember the standing "o" for the guy with the underage lover for the D's, don't remember such strong evidence for Vitter. But that may be one.

The question was, somebody like this. Indicted, blah, blah. Not some conspiracy or he-said/she-said scenario.

But heck, I'll give ya one. Vitter is pretty icky and was defended by some Rs.
