Yes, as I stated. Some biblical scholars associate with with either "Divine" or "unconditional" love.

However, native speakers like Plato associated it to familial love and other far more worldly types of love.
 
This again ignores that it may have been the word "Agape" (English not Greek).

But desh, many are much more likely to do business with a business professing Christianity. Maybe businesses target different segments of society. Just a thought. You have to consider your word "sometimes" in your reasoning.

That's my point.

It is "fun" around here for many to try to make "another" Christian look bad, but it may not even be the word that she assumes it is.

I need a bit more evidence than her suspicion.

It may be that she is right. <- please note this line, too often people miss things like this so they can feel more "insulted" later...

If he named the company "Agape" thinking that evangelicals would buy into it more because of the word then there is something to what she is saying.

However what if it was "agape" as in "in awe"?

Everytime I see it I think "this is phoney crap".

So if there are those who think they should USE it to get business for any reason do you think they are paying God homage or just looking for a customer hook?

but again, just because Agape CAN be used by religious people doesn't mean that this guy is wearing his religion on his sleeve. You offer NO evidence of that.... AT ALL.

Oh, I agree with your last statement there.....they're likely just looking to hook a customer. Target consumer. However you would like to say it. But I can never call it phony as I know many legitimate business using the fish symbol and they are good folks. I wouldn't do it but I don't begrudge them from doing it either.

I just don't think there is enough "evidence" to convince me that "this guy" was using Agape in the religious sense.

The company makes bridge loans on property. What the hell is religious about that? Is Desh trying to imply that those that invest in high risk/high return ventures such as these type of loans will invest solely on one interpretation of the companies name even though clearly there is no religious connection?

I think it WOULD, if in fact that is what he did. Unless the company actually participated in Christian activities of some sort. Making Bibles, or Icons, for instance.

Again, what if it is the English word "agape" meaning "mouth open in awe"? It makes as much sense, if not more sense, to name an investment company that than it does, "Love Corp"...
