The few remaining Republicans in the state of California are most likely going to vote themselves into extinstinction later this week by approving a state budget with some nice new tax increases.

If they won't fight for fiscal disipline what purpose do they serve? None I would argue. We might as well be a one party political state. That seems to be what the people want its what we should get. The Republicans are going to make it a reality.

Not all republicans are conservative. Why is it that people insist that they are? You know that Zell Miller isn't a liberal even though he is a democrat, how can you not see the possibility that somebody may be a republican and not "conservative"?

Raising taxes was not going to prevent the budget shortfall. No disrespect but a comment like that just shows you have no idea how the California state budget works. And as an aside its interesting that people who don't live here want Californian's to pay more in taxes. Fuck the Midwest, South and East Coast with your west coast biases. Don't hate because you don't live here nor could you probably afford it.

They can't. Why do you think the ideologues have made the Republican party a regional party of southern and rural conservatives? There to ideological. To much political inbreeding. They need to do something or they are doomed. They've lost to to many people like me and when we criticize the party for being broke their response is not one of conciliation or consensus building or compromise which would bring more people into the party. It's "Fuck you, you're either with us or against us".

The Republican party needs new leaders to reform it or it's doomed.

Arnold would be a good man to help reform the party.

I know what you mean. My company wanted me to transfer to California due to a severe shortage of people with my particular skill. They wouldn't offer a a substantial cost of living increase in my pay so I turned them down. I can live one hell of a lot better on what I make in Ohio than I could in Cali.

Even when Gray Davis was governor, the Liberal Democrats just tried blaming Bush or deregulation for their problems, nevermind the fact that deregulation was done just fine in just about any other state while obviously the president does not single out Cali with measures against it.
They will never be accountable to any problems they create, have you ever seen a Liberal or Democrat on here criticize their party, ideology or admit they were wrong?
