Who is starting to find Blagojevich pee-your-pants hysterical?

He has really grown on me. I didn't find his press conference on Friday to be incoherent. It cracked me up.


Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, after a defiant and incoherent Friday press conference, is taking his case to television. Lynn Sweet reports on the first leg of this media marathon, from the "Today Show" Sunday:

Impeached Gov. Blagojevich, on the first leg of his media blitz timed to the start of his impeachment trial, in an NBC interview broadcast on The Today Show Sunday compared himself to human rights heros Nelson Mandela, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi.

No, you aren't the only one. I find him very entertaining and hope he holds on and stays in the battle longer each time I see him.
 
Well, the "horse thief" scenario was one of the most entertaining moments of politics. And according to some he's hired PR to get on TV and stuff even more often. I expect to be fully entertained for some time now.

I almost feel sorry for Illinois... But, nah...

Sure, fun for all of you! We're dying here in IL. The dead man walking is screaming about how he wants to 'hold down taxes.' Has anyone bothered to find the IL tax rates? Trust me, high. Roads, suck. Bridges, suck. In Springfield they have limited hours to Lincoln Museum. The state has closed public lands and is considering selling some of the lands.

How corrupt is Blago? The Senate seat is the least of it, just the headline. This is a bad, bad, governor. The sooner the gone, the better. Then clueless Quinn will take over, to be replaced by Lisa Madigan, note this is way before the brouhaha, she is the daughter of the[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Madigan"] most powerful pol in IL. [/ame]

There is no end to the nasties in IL. Our only solace is that Blago may share a cell for awhile with George Ryan. The Willis horror wasn't all of it, just the worst.

as someone born and raised in Illinois, I am embarrassed... but I can completely understand why people find this amusing.

Well just because he is a spectacular figure. Obviously he has some sort of borderline personality disorder. Narcissistic personality disorder maybe. He's absolutely hysterical comparing himself to pearl harbor and Ghandi.

Oh that guy. What a pig. You have to really wonder what kind of man wants to watch his wife perform sexual acts on another man. On one hand, it was a relief to finally see a republican caught in a sex scandal which involved a woman, and one above the age of consent even...on the other hand, ick.
 
The guy at work who sarcastically had Bush's face on his desktop leading up to the inauguration informed me that Blagovitch had entered the ranks of "politcal hero" amonst the great Marrion Berry for his TV performances. So no, you are not the only one who find him hysterical.

I still love the whole "its a plot to raise Illinois taxes" statement.

I wonder what anyone can say to Blagojevich to make him understand that he isn't going to be able to lie himself out of this, and that he's just making himself look like a lunatic?

Blagovich's attempt to turn this into an anti-tax crusade is bizarre and hilarious though.

I believe Illinois governers have a higher conviction rate than certain sectors of the general public when charged with certain crimes... Can't remember what the statistic was, but it was funny as hell.

Yet he'll be heard on 3 national programs tomorrow, while the IL Senate starts the trial, that he chooses not to attend. He could call witnesses, he chooses not to.

The articles of impeachment.
