Dems plan immediate climate action.

Nuke power has never lived up to it's claims.

Because we stopped developing it when assholes realized it could be a salvation for all humanities energy needs. They want to kill half of us, you know, overpopulation and good intentions being what they are.

Precisely Chap. I don't see the problem. Let's get with it. All areas used to become energy independent: Coal, Nuclear, Oil.........and renewable fuel resources. Use the others until we can get the price of the renewables down to where the common man can afford it.

hopefully obama and his administration lay the groundwork so that in 50years our generation leaves a better place for mankind.

From a cost analysis perspective let me go ahead and count all the money we spend 'securing' our oil for the past 50 years then tack that to a price per barrel and we will see how much cheaper it is then solar and wind to produce a megawatt.

Let's throw nuke into the comparison.

im against nuke power. its just to much of a target for humanity haters and the risk of accidents that ruin life as we know it are far greater then any other energy supply. One thing that would get me to move locations is if a nuke reactor opened up near by. I wont live near one.

I remember the origional sales pitches for nukes.
So cheap we will practically give away the electricity. Only refuel the reactors ever 20 years or so, etc...

We use nuke power very successfully exactly that way in every ship in the US Navy.

Also compare the price of electricity in South Texas (nuke produced) and the price of energy where I live (coal produced). I a pay much higher price for it. Nevertheless, I am glad to pay if because the coal is locally mined. That provides jobs for many of my family and friends.

Which is also a good reason to go for a more local source of energy, not only for electricity but also for running our vehicles.

Green protectionism? IS protectionism ok when it's in the greenspace?

The govt does nuke power better than the private sector does?

Ok lets have the navy build and operate our nuke power plants. They would of course do a good job of security and ensure that all personnel are well trained.

Then do tell us what your plan is for the waste. What do you do with that. As far as I know, there is not a viable long term answer for the waste.

SHoving it in your ass would be pleasant, and viable. :)

But seriously, I would be amenable to shooting it into deep space.

I know GREEN is supposed to be the next made up bubble of lies and you have your stock moves all planned out, but let me say from society in general, I hope you choke on your lies and greed.

No one can ever address the aspect of waste when it comes to nukes. The debate always devolves into something else.

There is no long-term solution for the waste, and its incredibly irresponsible on a generational level to just ignore that.

Things like this and the debt are just Americas way of saying "screw the next generation".
As a nation we have ZERO personal responsibility.
