aug 9 2020 Brooklyn College Professor of Math Education Laurie Rubel argued this week on Twitter that the mathematical equation 2+2=4 “reeks of white supremacist patriarchy.” Rubel’s tweet was retweeted and promoted by several academics at universities and colleges around the nation.

According to a report by Campus Reform, Brooklyn College Professor Laurie Rubel, who teaches math education, tried to make the case this week that basic math is “white supremacist.” The tweets are part of a larger trend in recent scholarship by American academics, many of which have argued that “objective truth” is a social construct.

“The idea that math (or data) is culturally neutral or in any way objective is a MYTH. I’m ready to move on with that understanding. Who’s coming with me?” Rubel wrote in a tweet.

“Along with the ‘of course math is neutral because 2+2=4’ trope and the related (and creepy) ‘math is pure’ and ‘protect math.’ Reeks of white supremacist patriarchy,” Rubel added. “I’d rather think on nurturing people & protecting the planet (with math in service of them goals).”

Anyone who thinks blacks are mentally equal to whites needs to explain why

1. Black-americans come in last in all standardized tests. Asian-americans do fine on all the tests so it's not due to cultural bias in the tests.

2. Africa is by far the poorest and most backward continent on the planet. All of black africa is now controlled by blacks and has been for decades so it's not due to racism.

3. No black has ever won a Science Nobel Prize unless you count one in 1979 for the semi-science of economics. They have won many nobels in non-brain fields like Peace and also in Literature so it is not due to racism.

4. Out of 1552 chess grandmasters in the world, only THREE are black.

As for the weaker sex, no woman has won a nobel prize in physics since 1963 despite enormous affirmative action pressure to give them one.

I saw this last week, and one of the arguments these idiots were making was that an integer could range from +/- .5 of it's value so 2.4+ 2.4=4.8 could be written as 2+2=5 after rounding. However, the equation was integers strictly, so it's really just sophistry

They're trying to apply Postmodernist philosophical theory - (which is politically leftist and vehemently anti-Western/anti-American) - to maths and the other STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering) a but they have never had any success really. These women are academic rogues - unhinged eccentrics, there are many of them, just a handful. No one pays them any attention anymore. They just pop up now and then in the odd newspaper article because what they are saying is so outrageously crazy. I agree that they should not be allowed to teach youngsters. They should be deregistered. Its different with the humanities though, Postmodern theory has destroyed the majority of humanities/liberal arts, sociology, philosophy, anthropology, etc faculties in American colleges/universities.

In colleges of education across the country teachers are being taught Critical Pedagogy and Social and Economic Justice as the curricula more and more. Those teaching these classes are often the most radical Leftist Communists and sometimes terrorists in America, like William Ayres, Peter McLaren, Sandy Grande, Henry Giroux, Ira Shor, and the like.

These radicals not only indoctrinate new teachers but even make it mandatory for their degree programs that they show they are thoroughly immersed and believe in this crap. Student resistance is broken down using a complex, convoluted series of arguments plied thick with academese.

Paulo Freire was a Brazilian Communist, radical Leftist, and terrorist who lead a failed coup d'état against the Brazilian government who exiled him afterwards for being a traitor. He subsequently went to work for the UN (no surprise that might happen), and made the rounds at a number of top tier US universities. He also invented Critical Pedagogy as a means to indoctrinate and propagandize education with the intent of making the masses favorable to revolution and Communism.

So, that Ph D candidate's characterization is nothing but a whitewash of the truth.
