You see you have a little problem with your crazy ass spending or stimulus or corp welfare or bailout plans or whatever you want to call it these days.
There might not be anyone interested in buying up the giant debt increases you will be packing on when you more than double Bush's already massive deficits from $455 billion to 1.2 trillion.

"U.S. debt is losing its appeal in China
China has bought more than $1 trillion in American debt, but as the global downturn has intensified, Beijing is starting to keep more of its money at home - a shift that could pose some challenges to the U.S. government in the near future but eventually may even produce salutary effects on the world economy.

At first glance, the declining Chinese appetite for U.S. debt - apparent in a series of hints from Chinese policy makers over the past two weeks, with official statistics due for release in the next few days - comes at an inopportune time. On Tuesday, the U.S. president-elect, Barack Obama, said Americans should get used to the prospect of "trillion-dollar deficits for years to come" as he seeks to finance an $800 billion economic stimulus package.

Normally, China would be the most avid taker of the debt required to pay for those deficits, mainly short-term Treasury securities. In the past five years, China has spent as much as one-seventh of its entire economic output on the purchase of foreign debt - largely U.S. Treasury bonds and American mortgage-backed securities.

But now, Beijing is seeking to pay for its own $600 billion economic stimulus - just as tax revenue falls sharply as the Chinese economy slows. Regulators have ordered banks to lend more money to small and midsize enterprises, many of which are struggling with slower exports, and Chinese bankers say they are being instructed to lend more to local governments to allow them to build new roads and other projects as part of the stimulus program.

"All the key drivers of China's Treasury purchases are disappearing," said Ben Simpfendorfer, an economist in the Hong Kong office of the Royal Bank of Scotland. "There's a waning appetite for dollars and a waning appetite for Treasuries. And that complicates the outlook for interest rates."

I have to give some props to the Dems, when they said they were for change, well going from under half trillion deficits to over full trillion deficits sure is change...and who on earth could have predicted they would be less fiscally responsible than the Repubs? Who could that be?
I know, I know, Repubs were bad so Dems had to be better or both parties are the same, etc...

Uhmm, yeah, uhmmm, Republicans, about the uh economy... YOU FUCKED IT UP! You have no right to talk about this shit.
It was the left that wanted more giant spending plans and opposed spending cuts that boosted the deficit to where it is, to the point where foreign and domestic investors have already had their fill of American debt and aren't as eager to increase a higher percentage of their portfolio on that.
Sarbanes-Oxley cost over 1.3 trillion in lost productivity, again a Liberal idea with moderate Repubs signing on.
We have seen nothing but high spending and high regulation and your idea of change is to make both even higher.

Not that the Repubs weren't bad, just the Dems were worse by their voting record and it is more visibly seen now that they are actually in power.

screw china, we shouldnt give them any money back....china's the red dragon...the clinton czar should rule with an iron fist and threaten china with war unless they erase our debt because lets be real china is a major extortionist

Dano, seriously. Pull your partisan blinders off. The Republicans laid the largest launching pad for increased spending of all time, and that what the Democrats are stepping off right now. You, Dano, YOU deferred responsibility from the Republicans about the spending for whatever reason, and now you're feigning outrage that the pother half of the RepubliCrats will spend spend spend.

You are part of the ilk that brings this shit on. Partisans are the ones who don't ever realize both parties are cogs in the SAME WHEEL with spending.

Jesus. Jesus.

You would seriously threaten them with war if they don't agree to give us money? That's insane.

You're insane damo.

The deficit is going to go pretty high, possibly to New Deal type levels. But we've done this before. The world isn't going to stop buying US debt.

Don't feel sorry for China, believe me the Red Dragon wants to consume you and your house note and your job and your failed car business....But When The Clinton Czar rule with an Iron Fist and lay down the new law ...those commies are gonna say w00t????

LOL, we could shrug the debt off if we wanted to, but then we'd have to pay ridiculous interest rates on the rest of it because we'd no longer be trusted.

This is not the 1930's, we are in a global economy now. No one is going to tolerate the insane tax rates of back then nor are you going to have a major war that devastated Europe and boosted America that will bail you out.

And try reading the article instead of your predictions, they ALREADY are buying less US debt.

You got the first part right but I did not defer responsibility from Repubs, I have admitted consistently and constantly said that the Repubs are bad but the Dems would be worse. A partisan would not attack both parties but a wise man would not always attack both parties equally - they are different in some respects and it's worth pointing out the differences and encouraging competition for them both to go the right way.
Saying they are all the same, gives them no reason to change.

I meant to ask (for some business reasons), are you near Waikiki? Is Waikiki still growing and developing more or is it full up? I hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question.

The article says this. Of course, it may be just a drop in the water. The article offers no sense of proportion or evidence of its claims, but you act as if its doomsday for one of the most bought securities on the face of the Earth.

And the right way is the left way. So you're encouraging the parties to go the wrong way. Your advice contradicts itself.

How could they have been worse? And furthermore, how is that not a deference? Spending got way worse that it ever has, ever, in the history of human kind. Exponentially, sickeningly, worse that ever was possibly imagined even by the biggest sceptic, ever. Claiming it would have been worse otherwise is like telling someone on the rack that they're lucky their torturer didn't have nails. Its insane.

They have been the worst ever, stop defending them directly or indirectly.

On the other note, Waikiki is still booming pretty good. I've been working a lot of TIs in the Waikiki/Ala Moana/ Downtown areas. Money's flowing down here.

It's okay Dano, Beefy hears what he wants to hear... I think he has beef stuck in his ears or something. For the past 8 years, he has heard us Conservatives praising Bush's spending and encouraging more of it. He hasn't heard any of us complain once about the deficit spending. You see Dano, simply because we didn't pick up torches and head to Washington to lynch President Bush when he cut taxes, it means we endorsed and supported all deficit spending for the past 8 years. That's how things translate in Beefy's brain.

And Beefy is one of the "moderate" pinheads, the rest of them are so vitriolic and hate-filled, they can't even hardly type. You may as well shut up and move to the back of the bus where you belong, we conservatives don't deserve a voice in things anymore, and the Democrats plan to spend money like it's never been spent before, just to spite us! No real reason, it doesn't matter what it's for, they see the way to get even at us for 8 years of Bush, is to spend us into bankruptcy.

Good to see your back pedal function is in full force there Dix. You've been cheerleading this runaway spending train the whole time. You've blindly supported this administration for its first 6 years. Its only been the last 1 or so that you've benignly eeked out a criticism, while blowing his horn out the other side of your mouth. Its obvious. Painfully.

Here's the blame for the other side spending us into bankruptcy, without a peep as to how our spending has grown under Republican rule. Again, here's a fellah who doesn't even know he's a cog in the wheel.

Enjoy that $7 soda Dix, the two leggers have to eat!

Welp, you're just plain wrong Beefmeister. I have complained since the presidential campaign of 2000 when Bush embraced the "Pill Bill" idea, and I have been complaining about his spending ever since. One of the things that baffled me about why Liberals didn't like Bush, was the fact that he spent more money on social programs than the past two Democrat presidents combined, and you can search that statement and find where I have indeed posted it many times on this board. In fact, two areas I have had major disagreement with Bush on, are spending and illegal immigration, and I've not "changed" my position along the way, it has remained consistent.

Now by "blowing his horn" you mean, I defended him against unfair criticism heaped on him by liberal pinheads who just wanted to find fault, that is true, I did do that. I don't think he is to blame for every ill in the world, and I will defend that position until they put me in the ground, sorry it offends you. I know he made some mistakes as president, and I think I've posted threads on that as well, but most presidents do make some mistakes. I don't think this country has ever had a "perfect" president, and it's a little unrealistic to expect it at this point.

But the topic at hand is DEMOCRAT spending, not George W. Bush... he's history, his administration is over, Republicans have virtually zero power to do anything about spending now. Pointing fingers at Bush is pointless with regard to the future, it won't change a thing.

uh, about that $1,200,000,000,00 +/- $100,000,000,000 inherited deficit for the year before he even is sworn in...:pke:

not to mention the existing deficit of over $10,000,000,000,000

how much was the deficit when bushco took over...
