You’re starting from a false premise. I don’t believe people have said the mask will “stop viruses”. I believe it just slows the transmission of the virus if the guidelines are carefully followed.

Yes, people have said that. When pressed on it, they tend to make what I am now going to call the "magick mask argument", where they subsequently claim that a mask only "protects" "others from THEMSELVES", not "themselves from others". This argument is typically also accompanied by some sort of virtue signaling. According to the parroters of this argument, a virus can only go through the pores of a mask from the outside -> in, NOT from the inside -> out... It is similar to the "magick blanket argument" that AGW proponents make regarding CO2 in the atmosphere...

I doubt there’s any virus that’s not attached to an aerosol or droplets. Masks might stop some aerosols/viruses [but then it’s on the front of the mask lol] but unless the mask is fit-tested, air and aerosols leak around the nose and the sides.
