They are of course not useful at all against a virus of any kind in any circumstance. People are simply using them as lucky talismans. That's all the good they are.

I went into exam room for 20 minute visit, doc said I could take off mask in there, I asked him at the end to please take my bp again. He did. It was back to normal 105/80.

Science isn't a debate. Science is a set of falsifiable theories. Masks are engineering, not science. They do not stop viruses. They will not protect you from Covid19. See the N95 specifications.

I no longer recognize California as a State. I call it the SOTC now (Socialist Oligarchy of the Territory of California).
When the people of the SOTC finally decide to elect a government that recognizes their own State constitution, and of the Constitution of the United States, then I welcome them back into the Union.

Trump has no authority to ban business activity like that. Trump is a proper noun. It is capitalized.
He also did not wash his hands of the whole thing. He provided extra equipment, tests, and support to each of these States when they requested them. He banned travel from China and from Europe. He is offering a plan to follow to open the economy.

There is no clusterfuck. Each State is handling it their own way. Many governors (note that they are Democrat ones) are abusing their authority, and lawsuits are resulting from that.

The only way this virus can ever be controlled is with a national policy. We cant have every governor doing whatever they want. Once state requires masks, another state doesn't, and another is suing their largest city so that their citizens do not have to wear masks. Now you explain how this clusterfuck will solve anything. Red states don't care about doing the right thing, all they want to do is curry favor with trump.
We have a president who refuses to wear a mask, and encourages his flock to do the same. Is there any wonder why we are having 80,000 new cases of the virus every single day.

The virus is contained in drops. That is why a mask works. You spray Corona with coughs and sneezes. The mask stops the drops and therefore stops Corona. If you wear one, you contain the drop. If the other person wears one, it prevents the drops from reaching them.
