Portland Police Officer: What It's Like To Be A Black Officer Policing Portland Protests

KGW NEWS reports: Officer Jakhary Jackson of the Portland Police Bureau offers his perspective as a Black officer in the middle of downtown Portland's nightly protests.

"I got to see folks that really do want change, like the rest of us that have been impacted by racism," Jackson said about the early days of the protests. "And then I got to see those people get faded out by people who have no idea what racism is all about, who never experienced racism."

He said almost invariably every time a person of color tries to speak with him while he's on duty at a protest, a white person steps in to interrupt.

"It says something when you're at a Black Lives Matter protest and you have more minorities on the police side than you do in a violent crowd," he said. "And you have white people screaming at Black officers.'"

He said he's also disgusted by people calling his white fellow officers racists, without knowing anything about them.

Jackson was interviewed by Lt. Tina Jones during a press availability that also include Police Chief Chuck Lovell.

Good article. BLM is nothing more than yet another arm of the Marxist revolution that we have been at war with for many decades. Its not about black people, never has been. They want to overthrow the whole of western Christian culture and bring it all crashing down where the only voice out there is that of THE STATE. No church, no family, no values,....just THE STATE.
 
In fact,... a great many black people around this country totally disagree with the likes of BLM because they KNOW what BLM is really all about. Hits home on a personal level for me because I in fact happen to be married to one of those black people who are dead set against BLM and their ilk. My wife is actually Bi racial but from what I gather in those days they just listed everyone as black if they had black in them. She is actually black, Hispanic, and white. She is actually a bigger Trump supporter than I am and believe you me,....THAT takes some doing! LOL

I believe all of this could have been prevented.

Does anyone remember what kicked all of this unrest off?

It seems like to me- I remember It was policemen murdering a Black man in the street.

If you want to fix problems- YOU HAVE TO DEFINE THE ROOT CAUSE!

If you try to just continue ignoring the root cause- THERE WILL ALWAYS BE UNFORESEEN PROBLEMS THAT JUST KEEP ESCALATING EACH AND EVERY TIME.

If you had a pin hole in your Radiator hose- Would you ignore that?

Or wait for your car to overheat out in the middle of Rush Hour Traffic in 110 degree weather.

I think I would fix the problem- IF IT WERE ME!

Looks like that is not the case anymore. Police brutality? Yes. Murder. There seems to be some evidence against that. What started this is people going off on a video without all the facts. Pretty common these days.

You know what it really looks like to me happened?

Looks like to me, that a superior officer. was training rooking cops that day, and the superior officer was actually teaching his rookies how to treat Black people when arresting them. He was teaching them how to step it up when dealing with Blacks!

And of course the rookies thought they were following orders- but, were too ignorant to understand that their superior officer was just showing out for them, abusing his authority, and just being a racist cop.

You don't train your rookies to be racist cops.

I hope the superior officer gets 20 years or life for all I care.

You can't have a hissy fit about BLM, when this police department was actually TEACHING rookie cops to conduct themselves in a racist manner.
