COLORADO SPRINGS — Police say a 22-year-old man was shot to death by a Colorado Springs resident while trying to break in to the resident's home.

Officers say they responded to a report of a burglary in process at the home at 9:50 p.m. Sunday.

Whey they arrived, they discovered a man in the backyard suffering from a gunshot wound; efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Authorities say an investigation revealed the man was trying to forcibly enter the house through the back door when he was confronted and shot at least once by a resident of the home.

Police say two other people were in the home when the shooting occurred, and no previous relationship between the man and the home's residents has been found.

The man who was killed was identified as Sean Kennedy of Colorado Springs. Authorities say an autopsy will be completed by the El Paso County coroner's office to determine the cause and manner of death.

No other details were released.

Colorado's so-called "Make My Day" law passed in 1985 allows people to use deadly force in self-defense in their homes.

LOL

That made my fucking day, the Dirty Harry law.

I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Another piece of evidence that guns in the hands of law abiding citizens is a good thing.

When is killing someone a thing to take joy in?

I hope to never have to kill anyone else during my remaining years.

I agree it is proper to protect ones self, but to take joy in someone getting killed?
Heck I would not even celebrate if Bush were killed.

I agree we shouldn't take joy in the death of another human being. But I think its not outrageous to take joy in the occasional victory over a criminal or the occasional incident in which the victim refuses to roll over.

Valid point Sol. Of course I was not targeting you with my reply.
