Atlanta officers not responding to some 911 calls

I understand...this is what the protestors are demanding, so....where are those social workers when they're needed?

I can see this social worker replacement going south fast. A guy is threatening to kill himself with a gun, so you send over 2 unarmed social workers. He shoots them both then himself.

Oh darn. Should have sent cops with.

On Wednesday, multiple sources within the Atlanta Police Department told CNN that officers were not responding to calls in three of the department's six zones.
Though the department denied that was the case, a police union director backed CNN's sources' accounts and said that, in some instances, officers were refusing to leave their precincts unless a fellow police officer required backup.

"There's a lot happening in our cities, and our police officers are receiving the brunt of it, quite frankly," Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said.
The city has shown its commitment to the officers through a pay raise, and "we expect that our officers will keep their commitment to our communities," she said.
However, she thinks morale is down tenfold, she said.

Cops are human and don't respond well to all the hatred aimed at them. You are correct the policemen/women all over the country need counseling to get through this. Plus people must understand that their anger should be aimed at those few bad apples. Don't paint all cops with the same brush.

Fire them

Agreed. They are violating their oaths of office and the Code of Ethics they swore to uphold.

Demotions, fines and other forms of punishment might work too. Like the Teacher's Union the RWers always bitch and whine about, the Police Union will do the same for their officers violating the law, but there are actions which cannot be protected by a union. Endangering the lives of others by failing to do their duty is one of those things.

Phan you do realize that cops are human and respond to positive and negative inputs. Let's not cut our noses off to spite our faces.

Yes, like teachers, they are human. Still, there are limits. Endangering the lives of others by failing to do their duty because they are pissy is one of those limits.

Are you saying every one of those 911 calls was by a person who hates cops? If a police officer fails to do their duty for political reasons and a person dies, should the police officer be held responsible for their death?

No one is painting all cops with the same brush, but look at all the times police have refused to testify against another police person because of some code of honor they have for each other when their oath was to the people and communities they serve. Review all the times police person who did stand up and do what was right, lost their jobs or were forced out because they were ostracized. The Blue Line needs to be brought down. Things need to change, rogue cops need to understand their criminal behavior will not be tolerated.

Agreed. The vast majority of police officers are good, honest people but if they cover up the actions of less good, dishonest police officers, then they should be considered to be as less good and dishonest as the bad cops.

The Breonna Taylor killing is an example of that misconduct. The EMT was innocent but shot 8 times by police executing a no-knock warrant on a person who didn't live there. The police report said there were no injuries and that force entry was not used when, in fact, a woman was shot 8 times and a battering ram was used to go through the door. I don't know what rules the police use, but in the military falsifying a report is a crime.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/louisville-police-breonna-taylor-death-incident-report/
Police in Louisville, Kentucky, released a nearly-blank incident report Wednesday from the night Breonna Taylor was fatally shot in her own apartment by officers. Despite the fact that the 26-year-old EMT was shot at least eight times during the no-knock search, the report listed Taylor's injuries as "none."

Police also checked "no" next to the box that says "forced entry" on the form, but witnesses and crime scene photos show officers used a battering ram to force entry into the apartment while Taylor was asleep.

I would never paint all officers with the same brush....or teachers, doctors, firemen, EMTs, etc... but I do understand why some in certain locales are calling off if they do not feel supported by those in charge... The administration needs counseled first....and it wouldn't hurt the rest of the country to listen....
I sure that same group wouldn't hesitate to help out if they observed someone in need, btw....there's been plenty evidence of that...

Where did you get the 911 shit out of my post? The above post has nothing to do with doing their fucking jobs! You do understand that guilt by association takes an emotional toll on people and therapy is often the answer. I can empathize with these cops as I went through basically the same thing when I came home from Nam. So sport get your shit together before you try putting words in my mouth.

As to not answering 911 calls I don't know if that is true or not. But any first responder be it a cop, EMT, Fire Fighter that doesn't respond to a 911 call resulting in injury, death, or loss of property should be held responsible.

Funny when they strike for higher pay you leftists are all onboard

From first responder to KKK overnight

From the OP. This thread is about police failing to respond to 911 calls and you wrote "Cops are human and don't respond well to all the hatred aimed at them."

Thanks and agreed about "any first responder be it a cop, EMT, Fire Fighter that doesn't respond to a 911 call resulting in injury, death, or loss of property should be held responsible". Like you and I, police officers swore an oath. They should be held accountable for abiding by that oath.
