Feminists like Darla Get Their Way: Kennedy Annointed Choice, Like it or not

Yeah, but is she ahead based on the public knowing anything about her other than her last name?

I haven't surveyed "the public" here on that point...have you? Or are you just, as usual, placing your own opinion as the popular one?

I would imagine that many here know much more about her than, say, those living in Colorado.

But I haven't gone door to door.

I hope she gets it and I hope she's the most liberal Kennedy of all time.
It's side splitting funny to see the neocons (redneck with a juco degree) shit their pants over a rich liberal getting Bush type free pass.
their are way too few liberals in congress and Obama is a fucking moderate republican so far.

It really is most amusing to watch this.

NO, again with your selective reading. I questioned whether she could win a Dem primary. Period. I did not limit it to just Cuomo. Right now the annointment process seems to have only mentioned Cuomo and Kennedy, but would that be all that challenged in an actual election? Obviously I have no way of knowing, but I find it hard to believe that they would be the only two involved.

In the annointment process, political capital and high level connections can hammer down any contenders. (as we have seen) In an election that is not as easy to do.

and yes, we are also about to have an annointment out here as well. I keep hearing rumors that it will be Hickenlooper (Denver Mayor)... which would be a great disappointment as he is to the left of Salazar.

That would be so fucking awesome.

Are you really this thick, or do you just do this to annoy people?

You understand how politics work, right? You know what name recognition is right?

Other than Schumer and Clinton, there is no one here with name recongnition that can touch a Kennedy or a Cuomo.

Others are listed on the polling, but they don't get any votes!

A primary would come down to Cuomo and Kennedy. From the polling, it looks as if Kennedy would easily beat him.

When you see a "?" that is indicative of a QUESTION. Not a statement of fact. Not a projection of personal opinion onto the populace.

Obviously relative to Colorado more people know her. I was more curious if she had been in the news locally in NY for things that would not necessarily get national coverage. Hence, what is the average Jane Doe likely to know about her?

They know she has written books, that she is a lawyer, and that she has done a lot of work on education for this state...I would imagine. I would assume that as baseline general knowledge.

But I assumed that it was general knowledge that Bush was a jerkoff the first time i ever saw his sorry ass, back in 1998.

Are you really this ignorant? Of Course other potential suitors for the slot aren't going to poll well NOW if nothing is known about them and they don't have the name recognition.

But look at Clinton, no one knew who he was until he started campaigning and he came from way back in 5th or 6th place to win the Dem nomination and the Presidency. To pretend that only people with name recognition have a shot is idiocy at its finest.

You are truly out of your mind.

Whatever. It doesn't matter.

It's done.

Out of my mind? Yeah, how dare I suggest that someone who wasn't a part of the political elite would have a shot at winning an election in a celebrity obsessed NY.

You're the round-robin King.

Round and round he goes, where he'll stop, nobody knows.

It's as if you are on a defective scooter, and no matter how hard you peddle, you are going in a circle. It's not long before you just don't make sense anymore, but you keep peddling.

"Kennedy declined to answer questions from about 20 news reporters and photographers outside Driscoll's office.

"What do you say to New Yorkers who think you're not qualified?" a reporter asked Kennedy, who has never run for public office before.

She ignored the question and started to leave City Hall."

Typical attitude for a celebrity with no foundation.

"Walt Dixie,a black Democratic organizer, was miffed that Kennedy did not talk with him or other community activists.

"That's a perception she has to overcome so she isn't perceived as an elitist," Dixie said. "It's Obama's foot soldiers she needs to capitalize on. That's the kind of voice we need, not someone who is an insider." "

"U.S. Senate hopeful Caroline Kennedy built bridges Wednesday with 11 influential Central New Yorkers but heard from no regular folks during a listening tour through Upstate. "

Good to let the regular people know where they stand right off the bat.

""Are you ready for this, Ms. Kennedy? You're not going to answer questions at all?" reporters yelled.

"Where are you heading next?" a television reporter asked.

"To the car," Kennedy replied
.

typical Kennedy arrogance

"What do you think your greatest qualification is to be senator?" a reporter persisted.

*crickets chirp*

"You're seeking public office and you don't want to answer questions from reporters, ma'am? When can we expect you to answer questions?" another reporter asked as Kennedy got into the passenger seat of a black GMC Denali owned by former U.S. Attorney Daniel French.

Who needs to answer questions when you're a Kennedy? That is all you little people need to know. I am Kennedy, now be gone foul little creatures. I only meet with the elite.

so now you take on Dungs strategy of not answering questions. Nice. Pretty much shows that you have no real case to present. To suggest someone without name recognition can't win simply points out the arrogance of the idiots that blindly follow celebrity names.

First, "feminists like Darla" weren't married to Caroline Kennedy. What "feminists like Darla" wanted was to ensure that one of the 16 woman-held seats in the US Senate stayed that way. We knew we were getting that from this governor.

Most active feminists that I know and know of, are coming around to Kennedy. They are taking the chance that she is going to be a powerful voice for women. They think it's a good bet.

As to your comment Chap, it's sexist. And it's a good example of exactly why I'd be even happier if the woman appointed was Kennedy. First, it infuriates the batshit right as we see here on this board. Secondly, it pisses off sexists. Your comment reminds me a lot of what Jane Hamsher at Firedoglake, a "liberal blog" wrote. She said that she guessed it was either become a senator or get her nails done. Hamsher is the same nasty, seething, big mouth who put Joe Lieberman in black face during the Lamont primary fight, and as far as I know, never bothered to explain herself. Now she is on a jihad against Kennedy, and she sounds like Maureen Dowd, another asshole.

So, for me, there is no bad here. Screw you all. That's how I view it.

Would you perfer an anti-feminist woman take that seat over a pro-feminist man? Its the substance that matters, not the sex!

No and neither has Kennedy. Though she has co-written a couple. Wonder how much was done by Alderman and how much was Kennedy.

I dont know, but it was CO-WRITTEN, why do you assume Kennedy did not have at least 50% to do with it?
